Today’s review is on a few of the products from a company that I found on Instagram; Happy Place Cosmetics. I think we all have those companies we find on Instagram, the ones with the pretty products that pop up in the search when we’re scrolling. Normally they seem to be either too expensive or from America with postage and packaging that doubles the cost of the order but Happy Place Cosmetics are based in the U.K. and do a range of skin care, bath and body products as well as quite a wide range of solid brush cleansers. I do like trying indie brands and the fact they’re in the U.K. and cruelty free meant I had to at least look at them, then a few things may have ended up in my basket. Though, to be honest, I was rather restrained with this order, I could have ordered a lot more.
It was the solid brush cleansers that first caught my eye and when they had a restock of all the scents they have ever done and it included Gummy Bear I had to make an order. Unfortunately I managed to miss out on the half price offer, damn my indecisiveness, so I only got the one when I could have got two but I added a couple of bath dusts (broken up bath bombs) and a lip scrub and made an order. I may already have a second one planned, this company could turn into an expensive find.
It’s the first day of December and that means advent calendar time! I may have ended up with four when I saw a Lindt one on offer and couldn’t resist the chocolatey goodness. With these advent calendar posts I do mini reviews or first impressions for the things I get in the calendars on that day. I will be doing more in depth reviews on some of them in the future when I’ve had a chance to try them some more.
The first day of advent has the Neal’s Yard Bee Lovely Hand Cream in the Marks and Spencer calendar, a Ciate mini Geology nail varnish in Goal Digger from the Ciate Mini Mani Month and a tea light in Spiced Orange from my Yankee Candle one. At least I think it’s Spiced Orange, there are two red ones and nothing on the door to say which it is. I do have a scratch and sniff type card with the other one on it and this doesn’t smell like that. If I’m wrong I’ll come back and edit it when I find out.
I did a mini review of this Autograph Ultra Shine Twist-Up Lip Colour when I first got it in the Marks and Spencer advent calendar but I’ve been using it for a few months and have had a better chance to really try it out. I haven’t seen much on these lip colours from Marks and Spencer which has surprised me when this one has definitely impressed me a lot. These cost £9.50 each though they seem to have changed the name as I am 90% sure that this Ultra Shine is the same as the Ultimate Shine one that is on the website here as it includes the colour Nude and has exactly the same packaging.
As this is a Marks and Spencer product it is cruelty free, this one carries the leaping bunny logo and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. They have a fairly good range of colours with neutrals, reds, berries and a pink but there isn’t a huge number of different shades. I can’t find anywhere that gives an actual value to the amount of product in these but I have taken a couple of photos next to a Soap and Glory one that says it has 1.5g to give an idea of the amount of product you get.
This is part of a gift set I bought in the Boxing Day sales from Holland and Barrett, it came with a face serum and a face scrub and was in the buy one get one for 1p so I basically got it for free with my Snail Gel set. Normally this can be bought on its own for £7.49 and within the UK it is only available in Holland and Barrett, at least Dr Organic claim to be exclusive to them. This face mask is both vegan and vegetarian friendly as well as not being tested on animals.
The whole Rose Otto range has a nice rose scent, it’s fairly sweet and light and really reminds me of the scent of Turkish delight. The general benefits from the Rose Otto range claims to be anti-aging, though the ingredients are also moisturising and oil reducing, at least in the face mask. It includes china clay, aloe vera and chamomile which will help to reduce redness and should calm your skin and possibly help if you have acne prone skin (from past products I’ve bought with these ingredients in anyway), though it doesn’t seem to be aimed at that and says it helps to reduce pores and stimulate circulation to make your skin look younger.
