I’m very happy with today’s advent calendar presents, the Marks and Spencer beauty advent calendar has a Look Good Feel Better Mini Powder Brush to add to my growing makeup brush collection. The Yankee Candle tea light today was Snowflake Cookie, a very sweet one but still one I use to sweeten others and the Ciate Mini Mani Month has a very sparkly Fortune Teller glitter top coat. I also think that the box for the Ciate one may be my favourites from the calendar, I just like the mini boxes in this year’s one and going to keep them for wrapping presents.
I just realised this is day nine, it’s over a week into December and just over two weeks till Christmas. I feel a bit underprepared, I started well with gift buying but it sort of went downhill when I had half of the presents and thought I had plenty of time. Do any of you guys find this happens to you too?
Today’s advent has two nail varnishes! I knew it would happen some time because of the products in the Marks and Spencer one and I can never have too many nail varnishes, especially when it comes to purples and berry colours. The Marks and Spencer nail varnish is an exclusive to their store as it’s an Autograph product, one of their lines, in Cranberry. Ciate has another clear one, this time in a nail treatment called Status Grow (I do like the name). The Yankee Candle this time is Snowflake Cookie, not my favourite but it does mix well with others.
This may sound an odd thing to be the most excited about considering the other products in the beauty advent calendar but today’s Marks and Spencer calendar present of the Ultrasun Face SPF 30 sun cream is one of the ones I was most looking forward to trying. I’ve seen this make around for a while but never actually tried anything from them, having been told recently I need to wear sun cream, or SPF anyway, because of medication I was waiting for this one to try and sticking with one I already had from summer.
The Ciate today was a nail topper, a glitter called All That Jazz, which is really pretty and sparkly but these are so messy to use. The Yankee Candle tea light today is actually hard to tell which one it is, I’ve got a cold now and I can’t seem to tell if this is Christmas Cookie or Winter Glow but I think it’s Christmas Cookie. It’s such a subtle scent and I think the others in the calendar may have affected the scent of it when it’s not burnt, or maybe it’s just my nose playing up and adding other scents to it.
Day four, another late one sorry, and this time I got one of the products I was most excited to try from the Marks and Spencer calendar so I’m a very happy bunny. The Marks and Spencer calendar had the Brow Tamer from Pixi by Petra which I am looking forward to trying out. The Yankee Candle calendar had a Snowflake Cookie tea light and the Ciate Mini Mani Month had a mini Iced Frappe nail varnish which is a favourite from the past so very happy with this too as I managed to miss that it was in here so it was a nice surprise.
These advent calendar posts are mini reviews or first impressions of the things I get in my advent calendar. I am definitely going to be doing a full post on the Brow Tamer and maybe a comparison to the Benefit one as I got one free with a magazine a while ago and it would be interesting to see how they compare.
Today is another great day in the Marks and Spencer advent calendar with a full sized Stila Lip Glaze in Sugar Plum. I can’t find this exact shade on the Marks and Spencer website so I think it may be a limited edition Christmas colour though I don’t think it’s an exclusive in the calendar. I’ve never tried a Stila Lip Glaze before but I’ve heard a lot about them, unfortunately after trying it it seems to have gone missing so I’m going to have to see if someone else picked it up, I’ve still used it a couple of times so I have a good idea of what it’ll be like. The Yankee Candle tea light today is a Snowflake Cookie one which is one for you if you like your sweet bakery scents. This is the last of the tea lights, tomorrow is a larger votive in a new scent so I’m excited to see what that one is like.
Today’s Yankee Candle is another Snowflake Cookie tea light, which may not be burned as it is not my favourite and a very sweet bakery scent. The Marks and Spencer gift today was a 50ml tube of Swell Ultimate Volume Masque, though this isn’t a brand I’ve heard if before. It’s quite helpful on the tube as it has instructions for different hair lengths and how much to do for super soft hair or damaged/coloured hair which is nice so there’s no guesswork. I will definitely be giving this a go though it isn’t for my hair type, they’re definitely going for volumising when it comes to hair products which I guess is a safe choice and goes with the trend of adding volume that seems to have been popular recently.
Day 14 in the M&S calendar is another volumising hair product, the Percy and Reed Volumising No Oil Oil, which is a but odd to say but I have heard of it before so it’ll be fun to try out. As I said in the previous volumising product day I don’t really need it as my hair is very thick but I do find that a lot of volumising products help sot flyaway hairs and do seem to tame and flatten my hair which seems slightly odd but if it works then I don’t mind. The Yankee Candle tea light today is another Snowflake Cookie, which is probably my least favourite scent but I’ll probably still burn it.
I am so excited about today’s present from the M&S calendar, it’s a full size Leighton Denny Renovate nail repair cream. I love finding new nail treatments as, although mine are in pretty good condition most of the time they’ve recently dried out and are so ridged since I’ve been less careful about buffing each time and this is supposed to help with that. The Yankee Candle tea light today is Snowflake Cookie which isn’t my favourite but I’ve been burning it today anyway.
