I can’t remember when I last did a skincare routine post. There
are probably some things that stayed the same as I’ve got some old favourites
that I’ve been using for years, but I
have recently found some new products my skin loves. It’s taken me ages to get
a regular routine, I’m nearly thirty and it’s only been the past couple of
years I’ve had a proper daily routine.
My skin can definitely be difficult at times. It’s acne prone, combination and sensitive but definitely goes on the dry side over oily when it comes to the combination part. I do like trying new products but I tend to find that it takes a while for my skin to get used to them so I’m trying to stick to a few favourites, though one of the moisturisers in the Holland and Barrett advent calendar has made such a difference it’s in my go to list now.
I wish I’d taken more photos, I’m still not that good at remembering to do that when out and about, as the shopping area was so nicely arranged, which sounds like an odd thing to say but not having aisles crammed in and there actually being space in all the shops was really nice. Add in the odd sky on Monday due to the storm in Ireland and the UK and I bet the lake would have looked great in them. With the five hours free parking and range of shops there I definitely recommend Rushden Lakes to anyone local as a place to spend an afternoon wandering and shopping. Though it does seem like most locals already know about it, I seem to have been slow on finding this.
Anyway, onto the shops themselves. Though I didn’t get what I originally planned to as there weren’t any of the long tops or tshirts that I liked in my size I did end up getting a few things. In the end I got things from Primark, Marks and Spencer, Holland and Barrett, Flying Tiger (a new favourite shop) and Boots, though it was fun wandering around the rest and I was very restrained when it came to the large beauty section in House of Fraser, I don’t think I’ve seen so much Urban Decay in person before! This is one of those posts that I’ve had in my to write pile for ages and haven’t got round to until now. I don’t tend to use exfoliators in the summer as it’s more about stopping my skin becoming oily but in the winter they really help remove dry skin so as it’s back in my skin care routine it reminded me about this post.
I first got the Pixi Skin Treats Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner in last year’s Marks and Spencer’s advent calendar and it was a decent sized sample, I think it was a 100ml bottle which is great for trying these out as you don’t need much of this each use. I still use it for travel but do you think I could find it when I’m actually wanting to photograph the two together? Of course not. This bottle I bought a couple of weeks ago from ASOS, they had an offer at the time but at full price this 250ml bottle costs £18. It is available in quite a few stores here in the UK when you look on Google but I’ve bought from both ASOS and Marks and Spencer in the past and trust them so I’ll just link them. There are so many that sell it though I think it should be easy to find and costs the same amount in all of them.
I did a post on Friday about the empties from last month and there are a few of those products that should probably be in a monthly favourites post too as I used them a lot but I’ve chosen eight different products I’ve been loving this month. I think most of these are a case of finding something I’ve had for a while and loving it but there are a couple of new things I only found this month. It seems a bit odd to include food but the Walkers Sunbites in general are so good. I really like it when companies do a good sweet chilli flavour for crisps things and these have the crunch and a bit of spice without being too hot for me which is always good as I don’t do chilli all that well sometimes.
I feel like in a monthly favourites I have to at least mention Reigns and Hustle Cat as I have really liked both of these games, Reigns in particular is one you pick up and play and lose time in whereas Hustle Cat is more one to sit down and know you’ll play for a while. This month I haven’t really been watching or listening to much that’s new for me to say that I’ve found something different. I have been really liking the heritage series, or whatever they’re calling it, that the BBC are doing where they either remake old series I none offs or they do a prequel or sequel type thing for them. It’s a nice way to revisit older series and give a new twist on them. Robot Wars finished and that was a great series, I hope they bring it back for a second (maybe they have already announced it and I missed it) but that next time it’s longer. I’d love to see some of the robots from earlier series appear, seeing some of them back was nice but I’d love to see the return of ones like Chaos 2, Panic Attack, Pussycat and Razor. They’d have to be updated against the newer robots but seeing some of the old teams back would be nice even if they’re new robots.
I think that the Marks and Spencer advent calendar gifts seem to be getting better in the lead up to Christmas, today is a 100ml bottle of Pixi Skintreats Glow Tonic. I’ve heard a lot about Pixi on blogs and youtube but I don’t remember any of it being about the skin care, it’s mainly been about the makeup so was interested to see how this one worked. The Yankee Candle advent calendar has a Christmas Memories, this is one of those perfect Christmas smells to me with the warm spicy winter scent.
