Last year Sleek Makeup celebrated their tenth birthday and released their Diamond Decade i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette with a mix of silvers, blacks and pinks. They say that the pink is their signature but, for me, when I think of the old Sleek palettes back when I first started buying them the matte black is the thing that stood out for me as being above the competition. It wasn’t always the best but I have a couple of the early palettes where the black is better than any others I’ve tried so I was happy to see a matte black included. You can find it on the Boots and Sleek websites for £8.99.
There are twelve eyeshadows in this and there’s a mix of finishes with two that I would call true matte, one that’s almost matte but has a duochrome hint to it and eight that are shimmers of various descriptions (though one is a matte base with glitter in really). The palette sort of has three sections of colour with four pinks, four silvers and four blacks, though one of the silvers is more gunmetal. It’s definitely an unusual mix of colours to me and not one I’d really go for normally.
You may know that I do love a good face mask, especially peel off or sheet masks, and so I had to ask for the Unicorn themed gift set that had a mix of Face Inc and Nails Inc products including face masks and nail varnish, two of my weaknesses, for Christmas. This Silver Streak peel off mask was one of the products in there and a pretty silver coloured peel off mask.
I can’t find the official description of what it’s supposed to do, there wasn’t much on the box and all of the online stores have taken it down, but apparently it’s supposed to refresh your skin and brighten your complexion so I was expecting something cooling and refreshing when I used it. I wasn’t the most cautious I’ve been when using peel off masks, I often get a couple of uses out of a pod, as it claims to be for face, body and hands and I tried it on my face, neck and the backs of my hands.
There’s something satisfying about removing a peel off mask, whether it has any benefits for my skin or not it’s just fun. This one has the added bonus of being a silvery colour, though it’s not straight up robot silver as I was half expecting, more a subtle silver shimmer that gives you a sort of sheen and glowy look when it’s on.
I love the base coat I used for this, the Red Carpet Manicure Boats and Heels from their summer collection this year. It’s one of the neon pastels (or pastel neons) that have been so popular over the summer and I have to say it’s one of the summer trends for nails that I love as it doesn’t make me look even paler than I am. I’m not sure whether you’d call this one a purple or a pink, it’s right in the middle somewhere I think, it’s either a pinky purple or a blue toned pink.
I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do with the nail art, I just liked the colour combination of purple or pink with black, white and silver accents. I also haven’t really used Thunder and Lightning from Models Own much and I love the holographic glitter in it so I felt like I had to include that in this one. I guess this post is going to be part nail art, part mini review of most of these colours. Continue reading
I’m loving doing nail art at the moment and trying the different brands and tools to see which work best to do what with. I recently used the Zircon gel varnish from Red Carpet Manicure as it’s such a pretty, sparkly turquoise it just screamed summer to me so I wanted to use it while the sun is still out here in the UK, we’re having a surprisingly sunny summer where I live. After a few days of just this I decided to have a go at some mermaid themed nail art using two of the summer Models Own Soft Pop collection; Lilac Flush and Sugar Rush as I really like the purple and turquoise combination plus blue just goes with anything beach or water themed for me.
Happy Halloween! I haven’t really done much today Halloweenish apart from watching an old Hammer Horror movie and apple bobbing. We had some trick or treaters and I may have eaten some of the sweets that they didn’t take. Have you guys had Halloween plans and done anything fun tonight? Or are you going to if you’re in America and it’s still the afternoon.
This is only a fairly short post but I wanted to review these while the one necklace is still on the site. I’m not sure how much longer the Halloween range will be up but it’s still there now. I’ve bought some necklaces from Sugar and Vice in the past and really like the style and the quality is really good. They’re laser cut acrylic shapes which are then used in different types of jewellery, I’ve just tended to stick with necklaces as I prefer smaller earrings and I just wear a greater range of necklaces though I do love some of the bracelets so I might get one of them next.
