I haven’t really been to many Christmas markets, probably only two before this one, but there was a Christmas market fair turning on the lights thing today in the local town so we went and had a wander round. I did end up buying some food, everything always looks so good I could ave bought way more, and I kind of wish I’d bought some of the tombola tickets, but it a definitely worth a wander round for an hour or so.
Do any of you go to Christmas fairs or markets? I tend to find with bigger ones you have so many stalls with exactly the same things being sold but this one was local companies, mainly food, with a few handmade crafts and drink stalls. Wasn’t the most Christmassy weather to wander round in but it was fun and getting there early, quite a bit before thee lights were turned on, was a good idea. Will definitely be going back next year if we’re around and they do it.
Ren is one of those companies that’s I’ve had a few products in Beauty boxes and liked so when the Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Body Wash I was happy to try something new from them. This is a 100ml bottle but the full size 300ml costs around £22 on the Marks and Spencer website. It’s definitely at the higher end price wise when it comes to body washes so I was interested to see how it would compare to cheaper products I use. This body wash is cruelty free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
I did have another post planned but as the Marks and Spencer’s Summer Beauty Boxarrived in the post today I couldn’t wait to do a post on the products in it. Similar to their beauty advent calendar these boxes have a much higher value than this price, this one is around £135 of products they say on the site, but you have to spend £40 in Marks and Spencer’s to get it for the discounted price of £15. Since I wanted curtains from there anyway I just added this to the basket as it’s such a bargain and there are a few products in here I was planning on getting anyway.
There’s quite a good range of different products in the box. Some are full sized and others are travel sized or deluxe samples but they cover the spectrum of beauty pretty well. There’s a couple of makeup bits with mascara and liquid lipstick, some summer products like after sun and SPF lip balms and quite a few hair and body products. It’s actually pretty evenly spread out and a great way to try some of these brands as the full sized products of some would cost more than the box and any that aren’t full sized are still a decent sample size.
Day 17 of the advent calendar and yet more skin care in the Marks and Spencer’s Beauty Advent Calendar. I’m going to keep everything from this in a box and sort them into groups when this advent calendar is finished so I can compare how much there is in each category. So far skin care is probably way in the lead and I’m surprised at how little makeup there is for a beauty advent calendar.
Today’s gift is from Ren and is the Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot. When I first opened it I was expecting some kind of firming face mask but it seems like it’s a serum style product that you apply between cleansing and moisturising and has an oil like feel to it. This tube is 10ml and the full sized one costs £36 for the 30ml so this is worth around £12 but I can see it lasting a long time given that the instructions say use two or three drops each use. Ren as a company are cruelty free, though owned by Unilever, and this particular product is suitable for both vegans and vegetarians as well.
I just realised today that were over half way through the month and were less than two weeks away from the beginning of 2017. How has this year gone by so fast? I think it took months for me to remember not to write 2015 at the beginning of this month so it’ll still be like its 2016 for a while yet for me.
After today my room is now covered in black glitter from the Ciate Mini Mani Month nail topper, it’s called Starry Night and I do love it but see things make so much mess no matter how careful I am. The Marks and Spencer advent calendar is a Ren Evercalm Global Day Cream, which I don’t think I’ve tried again though I have had things from the make before and I know they do tend to do well with my skin. The Yankee candle today is a Cosy By the Fire, one of the more stereotypically Christmas scents from Yankee that I quite like now. Continue reading “Advent 2016: Day 17!”→
The Marks and Spencer calendar has another skin care product, I’m quite pleased with the others so far and as this is from Ren, a company I’ve used some samples from and liked, I’m definitely giving this a go. It’s the Ren Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial in a 15ml tube which I think should give it a few uses. I have never heard of this product before so I’ll have to see how well it works. The Yankee Candle advent is a tea light in the scent Christmas Garland which is a nice, pine based scent which is pretty strong so it’ll be one I don’t burn the rest of the year but so far the others I’ve got in this scent have all been burnt and I really like it. I wasn’t sure how much I’d like this one and was mainly focussing on the cinnamon based ones and the fresher smells when I bought it but it’s definitely grown on me and I’m considering buying one next year if the do it, or maybe just another advent calendar.
