It feels so early but a lot of stores are releasing their Christmas products. As I was planning on trying a few of the Body Shop’s new products I saw these two sets and wanted to give the new Christmas scents a try. This year they’re releasing a range of products in Berry Bon Bon (mixed berry sweets), Peppermint Candy Cane (sweet mint) and Vanilla Marshmallow (sweet vanilla, which didn’t appeal to me) and these sacks looked like they’d give a nice range of product types to try as well as meaning I now have some great travel sized products. I was quite good and resisted the advent calendars, for now anyway. I really want the £45 one but I would probably end up with too many advent calendars and no money if I got all the ones I want this year!
Some of the other products I chose are ones I’ve either wanted to try for a while or have just found out about and couldn’t resist. I’ve sort of fallen in and out of love with the Body Shop products over the years as they can be a bit of a single note scent and them being owned by L’Oreal, but their ginger shampoo is amazing and I’m always drawn in by the Christmas scents so I wanted to try them early this year rather than leaving it to the sales and missing out because I don’t know what they smell like.
Having spent more time than I probably should watching YouTube videos on the Primark goodies available and checking out their Instagram I went on a trip to a local Primark. I hadn’t been to the Peterborough one before and was hoping they’d have a larger home section than the one I normally go to, which it did slightly but still not the best. I think I may have missed most of the sale items but there were some of the new Friends, Harry Potter and Disney bits there.
There were definitely a lot of the latest clothes ranges around but I was good and tried to avoid most of them, I love the mustard and all the fluffy things around this year so I have a feeling there will be an Autumn/Winter Primark clothes haul coming up soon. I didn’t get everything I planned but probably half of my list was crossed off and there’s a mix of Disney, Harry Potter and Friends. I do love all the officially licensed products they’ve been coming out with, especially all the home ranges.
It feels a bit like most of my posts recently have been hauls but this is probably the last for a while and one I’ve had planned for ages. I’ve had my eye on a few of the Sleek I-Divine eyeshadow palettes for a while and did plan on buying four, but the main one I actually wanted (Peach Perfect) was out of stock and off the website so I wanted to do this order before the rest disappeared too as they’re all limited editions. There will be proper reviews of these in the fairly near future when I’ve had a chance to play around with them but I wanted to show you guys how pretty they are in case they do a disappearing act too before I have a chance!
In a recent declutter I realised that, although I have many palettes and more than I actually need, I did have some gaps in the colours I had. Last spring I was loving their All the Fun of the Fair palette full of shimmery pastels and I really wanted some more pastels to add to my collection. The Nordic Skies palette was around last year and I thought I’d missed it but it appeared back in stock so I got it along with the Spirit Animal and Dream a Little Dream palettes. I also ended up buying their light eyebrow kit so now I’ve gone from having no eyebrow colour product to two. I’ll have to give it a go and see how it compares to the NYX one I got in my recent HQ Hair Haul and get back to you guys with what I find.
Another home décor post, I’ve been buying quite a bit recently after redecorating my room and changing it completely, and everything today is from the George Home Range in Asda. I did get the original order a couple of weeks ago but there were a few broken ornaments so they replaced them. Even though the original packaging was rubbish, no padding at all for all of the ceramic products so no wonder they arrived broken and marked, the customer service has been amazing and the replacements were very quick.
This haul is a mix of ornaments, cushions, organisation things and a tea light holder that was too cute not to buy. I have to say that, looking through the George Home range, if I was living by myself and looking to redecorate my home I could quite easily have bought so much more (the iridescent cutlery looks amazing) and it’s pretty budget friendly too. I think the most expensive thing I bought was £14 for three, all of the ornaments under £5 and the cushions are under £10. If you’re looking for some statement pieces then I’d suggest checking them out.
I recently made another order from the F2plus1 eBay store for Korean beauty products, I think it seems to be this time of year that I make these orders. A couple of these products were ones I’ve had my eye on for a while and I may have bought some more sheet masks. I already have enough to last months but these ingredients sounded unusual and I do love anything lychee or mangosteen so they ended up in my basket.
I’m always a bit wary about ordering from eBay, especially when it comes to cosmetics as there are so many fakes out there and I think a fake plastic figure is one thing but something you put on your skin is another. But I trust the f2plus1 store as I’ve bought from them before. They also have an online store away from eBay, BeautynetKorea, which I haven’t used but think it’d be as trustworthy. It does take a while to get here, two or three weeks in general, but considering it’s all the way from South Korea that’s pretty quick.
I think I’m going to be a bit late posting any sale hauls, the few other things I’ve bought haven’t arrived yet and I just haven’t done all that much sale shopping this year! I did, however, manage to get into my local Lush a couple of days after Boxing Day and it wasn’t too manic so I had a look round and bought a couple of gift sets and some other bits I was planning on getting. The reason this is part one of two is because my mum and sister went back and I asked them to get another gift box in the sale for me which has quite a bit more in it so this post would have been very long.
As some of these things may still be available in your local Lush I thought I’d do a mini, one or two line, review for each of the things in the sets as a first impressions. A few I’ve used before so I’ll either link to a review I’ve done or it’ll be more on experience than first impression as I’ve actually used them. Anyway, onto the haul and I hope you enjoy.
This is just a small haul, I did buy more but I was extra organised and actually started on my Christmas shopping, and I did end up missing out on the advent calendar I meant to buy as it sold out but I’m happy with the few things I did get. Earlier this week ASOS had a site wide 20% off sale so I decided to get some things in it, including the first advent calendar of the year. Or sort of advent calendar. I have a question for any of you who get these twelve days of Christmas style advent calendars; do you open them in the lead up to Christmas or on the actual twelve days of Christmas which actually starts on Christmas Day? I’m undecided on when I’ll do mine but there’s plenty of time to decide and I just wondered what any of you guys do.
As I left this order a bit late in the day I did forget exactly what I’d bought so it was a bit like Christmas opening it and not sure what I’d got besides the advent calendar. Do you guys do that too? Make man order late at night or when you’re only half awake and forget what was in it? I should really stop but I did save nearly £10 on the advent calendar which made it even better value.
I wish I’d taken more photos, I’m still not that good at remembering to do that when out and about, as the shopping area was so nicely arranged, which sounds like an odd thing to say but not having aisles crammed in and there actually being space in all the shops was really nice. Add in the odd sky on Monday due to the storm in Ireland and the UK and I bet the lake would have looked great in them. With the five hours free parking and range of shops there I definitely recommend Rushden Lakes to anyone local as a place to spend an afternoon wandering and shopping. Though it does seem like most locals already know about it, I seem to have been slow on finding this.
Anyway, onto the shops themselves. Though I didn’t get what I originally planned to as there weren’t any of the long tops or tshirts that I liked in my size I did end up getting a few things. In the end I got things from Primark, Marks and Spencer, Holland and Barrett, Flying Tiger (a new favourite shop) and Boots, though it was fun wandering around the rest and I was very restrained when it came to the large beauty section in House of Fraser, I don’t think I’ve seen so much Urban Decay in person before!
When I went to Primark last weekend the plan was to check out the beauty section, maybe get a couple of vest tops and see if there was anything decent in the home section. The home section was forgotten about, I need to go back for that I think, and the vests I like weren’t there so I ended up wandering around with mum and seeing what they had. This did lead to a basket full of Harry Potter and Disney things which I did manage to get down to two before we wandered over to the pyjama section and found the unicorn in the haul.
Unfortunately their beauty section in our local isn’t the best stocked, though I was impressed by the range of other brands available that weren’t there the last time I checked, and most of the makeup had obviously been poked and prodded which always puts me off. The only things that seemed safe were eyeshadows, I already have too many, and the lip kits which were available in chocolate brown or fantasy glitter. I was tempted by the sparkles but the chocolate brown was too dark for me, I might have to pop in when we go to Vodafone over the weekend and see if they have other colours then. I get the feeling that it isn’t the most popular section of the store as I was the only one looking at it and it didn’t really make me want to stop and browse.
With the recent heat wave here in the UK I wanted to get a new bikini for in the paddling pool in the garden. My old one is still doing ok but it’s ten years old so it felt like time for a new one! I may have ended up getting more than originally planned when I actually wandered around Tesco and Asda, we went to both because the fridge broke down in Tesco and some of the groceries we actually went shopping for weren’t available.
I ended up with shampoo, conditioner, a mini perfume spray and a bag alongside the bikini and dress I set out to get. None of it was overly expensive, it came to around £70 altogether. It sometimes find that’s one of the problems with shopping for these things in supermarkets; things are such great value that my trolley ends up much fuller than planned!
