On Wednesday I did a post on the Primark Lion King Highlight Palette, I got the Primark and Disney Lion Kind Wild Side Eyeshadow Palette at the same time. The bad thing about Primark makeup is how hard it can be to find, at least in the stores near me, so if you find these and want them get them rather than waiting for it. I made that mistake with a couple of the Lion King range so I’ve probably missed out on them.
The eyeshadow palette is fairly small, though it holds nine
eyeshadows, I think eight of them are slightly smaller and there’s a large on
in the middle. There is a range of finishes but the majority are definitely
shimmer, a couple almost metallic, with one matte and two I’d say are satin
maybe. I love the way they’ve names each of the colours to tie in with the Lion
King theme and the colour range definitely fits the African savannah colours. As
with the highlighter palette these eyeshadows are all cruelty free and the
palette sells for £6.
I saw the Primark Lion King range and I had to get some of it, I really wish I’d bought the chalk board and the cushion when I saw them in my local about a month ago but I haven’t seen them since. I did go to another Primark fairly near to me and found the makeup products so I had to get both the highlighting and the eyeshadow palette. The eyeshadow review will be up on Saturday and you can find it here if you want to check back to see swatches from that.
This highlighting palette has four highlighters in it in a
range of shades, there’s a pink base and a golden base that are more of a glow,
a deeper brown that’s great for darker skin tones, and a sort of peachy more
glittery highlight. The palette costs £5 and these are decent sized pans with
4.5g in each one. It’s also cruelty free, which is great, and I love the cute
packaging they’ve done for these, even if mine’s a bit damaged looking.
With our holiday a week away there were some bits I needed to get and some finishing touches I had planned for my room over a year ago now that I hadn’t bought so I decided to finish off both in one go. There’s a mix of home, beauty and fashion from TK Maxx, Matalan, Boots and Primark so there really is a bit of everything in this haul, or maybe that should be hauls.
All this holiday shopping has definitely got me feeling summery, even if it’s cold and wet here in the UK at the moment!
This is a bit late, it was meant to go up last week but apparently my scheduled post didn’t even save. Anyway, after the sales of January I decided to have a no buy February. We’re going on holiday in April, though it was originally going to be in February, and I bought a lot of things at the end of January for this so I wanted to save a bit for some spending money too.
I did set a few rules, the main one being this was for beauty and fashion except for the Red Nose Day t-shirts. I get one every time they release them and they were Disney this year so I had to get one. I did plan on buying a couple of things for my room, some final things for organising my wardrobe space and some plant pots that I’ve been meaning to get for over a year now, but I ended up getting none of them so I thought I’d do a post that has everything I bought in February, or rather everything that isn’t an essential thing that I bought in February, and I think I did pretty well!
I do love a good Primark shopping trip, but the ones near me aren’t really the best when it comes to the homeware department, we normally get everything well after it’s been off the shelves (the Chip mugs appeared about six months later at full price) so I was very happy to see some of the Christmas decorations there that I thought would have missed us.
They had a decent amount of the Harry Potter Christmas decorations along with some of the Disney themed sets of two and quite a lot of the decorations that aren’t a collaboration or licensed products from someone else. I could have spent a lot more but I was good… ish.
Having spent more time than I probably should watching YouTube videos on the Primark goodies available and checking out their Instagram I went on a trip to a local Primark. I hadn’t been to the Peterborough one before and was hoping they’d have a larger home section than the one I normally go to, which it did slightly but still not the best. I think I may have missed most of the sale items but there were some of the new Friends, Harry Potter and Disney bits there.
There were definitely a lot of the latest clothes ranges around but I was good and tried to avoid most of them, I love the mustard and all the fluffy things around this year so I have a feeling there will be an Autumn/Winter Primark clothes haul coming up soon. I didn’t get everything I planned but probably half of my list was crossed off and there’s a mix of Disney, Harry Potter and Friends. I do love all the officially licensed products they’ve been coming out with, especially all the home ranges.
I wish I’d taken more photos, I’m still not that good at remembering to do that when out and about, as the shopping area was so nicely arranged, which sounds like an odd thing to say but not having aisles crammed in and there actually being space in all the shops was really nice. Add in the odd sky on Monday due to the storm in Ireland and the UK and I bet the lake would have looked great in them. With the five hours free parking and range of shops there I definitely recommend Rushden Lakes to anyone local as a place to spend an afternoon wandering and shopping. Though it does seem like most locals already know about it, I seem to have been slow on finding this.
Anyway, onto the shops themselves. Though I didn’t get what I originally planned to as there weren’t any of the long tops or tshirts that I liked in my size I did end up getting a few things. In the end I got things from Primark, Marks and Spencer, Holland and Barrett, Flying Tiger (a new favourite shop) and Boots, though it was fun wandering around the rest and I was very restrained when it came to the large beauty section in House of Fraser, I don’t think I’ve seen so much Urban Decay in person before! Until recently the Primark I go to hasn’t had that much of a range of the beauty products that have been seeing everywhere on blogs, so when I went in and they had some colours I liked the look of I got them. They didn’t have a huge range, I think this was one of two metallic lip kits and there were two mattes, but enough to try them out and at £3 each for a set with a lip liner and a liquid lipstick it seemed like a great deal to give them a go.
The colour I’ve got is from the Get Lippy Metallic Collection and is a sort of coppery coral kind of metallic colour called Molten Lava. The liquid lipstick and lip liner are both the same colour, I’m assuming they’re both called Molten Lava as well, and I haven’t seen any of these available separately. Unfortunately Primark don’t sell online so it’s either risk paying over the odds on eBay or a similar site or go into the stores and see what they have in stock. Continue reading →
Having recently found the range of masks in Primark at my local store and seeing a hand mask I had to get one. Given my love of sheet masks I was interested to see how a hand mask would work and how it would compare to just using hand creams as I’ve never used any kind of hand mask before. This is the Holler and Glow Purrfect Skin Transforming Hand Glove Masks, which is a bit of a long name, and part of the printed mask range so it has a bright turquoise blue and pink leopard print design.
This pair of gloves costs £4 and you get one set for that. It didn’t specifically say it’s a one use only thing but I don’t think I’d want to use it twice. Basically it’s a pair of plastic gloves with, what feels like, a glove shaped sheet mask with the mask formula infused in the sheet inside the outer gloves.
As I am currently in the search for a good, affordable liquid lipstick this may be one of many liquid lipstick reviews coming up. There will be other reviews in the middle but I realised today how many I have bought recently and I’ve actually been excited to try them all out and write the reviews for you guys. Today’s is one of the Primark Get Lippy Matte Lip Kits, one of the ones I’ve been looking out for the most and they finally had some in stock near me.
The one I have is in the colour Cookie Dough, which is a fairly light nude, it doesn’t add any extra light or dark to my natural lip colour really, just changed the colour of it, which is nice for an everyday look to me. These lip kits contain a lip liner and a matte liquid lipstick, as with most of the Kylie style dupes, and costs £3 which makes it the cheapest one I’ve bought. I fon’t think that either of the products is available individually, though as our local doesn’t have a great range of their own beauty line I’m not sure.
With these being the cheapest I was interested to see how they’d work, they seem to have either love or hate reviews and seem to vary from colour to colour so I was crossing my fingers I got a good one.
