I feel like this post is a couple of weeks late now but I’ve kind of been putting it off as I know my blogging goals at the beginning of last year are so far off what I actually did that it’s not the most positive thing to look back on for last year. I’ve been trying to work on things and plan ahead and needed a break from blogging, partly planned at the beginning but then I got ill so less planned but definitely needed.
I tend to make goals posts for my blog and update and change them as I go throughout the year as I see goals as a flexible thing, something that you can change as the circumstances change, and check things off as you go along and add new ones. I tended to find that whenever I set new years resolutions they seem to fail pretty early but goals with definite updates throughout the year work better for me.
I feel like I should start by saying sorry for not posting as often recently. I will admit that the huge dip in views since actually paying for this blog was a bit discouraging, going from nearly 300 a day every day to under 100 a day did not feel good, but you guys are awesome and I’ve loved the fact that I’m actually getting more comments than ever, so many more, and I’m actually having conversations. That probably sounds odd but definitely more important to me than the whole numbers thing. I feel like I should apologise for being a bit awol on here but I do have reasons and within the next few weeks it’ll all be back to normal, I promise.
For me goals are something to aim for but I tend to find that keeping them flexible is the best. Things in life change all the time so why not goals too? Sometimes it’s good to move the goalposts and give yourself a bit of extra time, as long as it’s not something that would have a negative impact on yourself or others, and the opposite can help too. I often find I work best to a deadline which has meant late nights finishing coursework but making little goals and deadlines in life for myself seems to have a similar effect.
I thought, as I’ve been away for a few weeks, I’d start blogging again with a bit of a catch up. I haven’t really done that much of an update on my goals, my planned no buy September and what I’m doing with the blog coming up. I’ve actually found that the few weeks off, though the reason for the break wasn’t great, has actually helped me clear my head and get more focussed on what I’m going to do with my blog, or want to anyway.
I did get a bit stuck in a rut, despite posting about trying to get out of it before, and did find myself wondering whether I should keep blogging before all of this happened as you look around and see newer blogs doing better with views and likes and things and getting more companies working with them and it did sort of sit there in the back of my mind. However, having had the break, I’m really looking forward to blogging more and have ideas as well as all the things I had planned on posting the past few weeks.
Hey guys, I thought I’d do a bit of an update as posts may be a bit off schedule the next couple of weeks. Two weeks ago I had an operation to remove a big cyst and so these past two weeks posts have been scheduled and I hoped to be better by now so I could do my posts like I was before. Sorry if I’ve taken a while to reply to comments and I know I am way behind on reading blog posts but my concentration is getting better again. I think it’s more my ME knock on effect rather than the operation that’s getting in the way now as I was feeling so much better a couple of days after the operation than I have for years so hopefully this means I’ll actually have more energy and be able to spend more time on the blog. I might even get back to the five posts a week and more of a schedule for the different types of posts with five a week like I did the beginning of last year. That’s the goal anyway.
On the plus side I’ve had to relax and not do anything much and the weather has been nice so I have been catching up on my reading and the list of to read books outside. Though I highly doubt I’ll actually manage a book a week and have read 52 by the end of the year, maybe I should stop setting it as a goal but I do want o read more and it’s one way of doing that for me.
It has also taught me that I can actually do more scheduled posts, I’m just never organised to do this and forget after a few weeks but I’ll try to get into the habit more. I always used to worry that if I did them too far in advance they’d get out of date or I’d have new things arrive and mess the schedules up.
Also I do have some ideas for more health related posts but not sure how many people would be interested in them. I just is I’ve answered questions in the past about geberal anaesthetic and ME so might post about that as I’ve had a couple of experiences that were very different and I know before the surgery I was searching for information on the internet about things I’d need to take and remember so might do posts on that. I don’t know. Would any of you guys enjoy interested in those sorts of posts? I feel like I haven’t done many ME and health related posts recently.
Anyway, this isn’t much of a post but I wanted to do a bit of an update and explain why if I don’t post for a bit. Hope you’re all well and that the weather’s good wherever you are. Our early summer seems to have disappeared again here in the UK.
For ages I would make new year’s resolutions but there are only so many times you can have learn to drive on there but kit be able to achieve it purely because of health reasons before it gets a bit demoralising.
Instead I have decided to make goals, I did his last year and I failed most due to a mix of health, mediation side effects or other family member’s health issues that were more important to think about but since having ME I have definitely learnt that goals should be flexible as being to rigid with them leads to disappointment and it’s just not how chronic illnesses work, in my experience anyway. I’ve not been here for a few days, the past couple of posts were scheduled so sorry if I missed any comments or replies. I’ve not been great about keeping up with blogs I’m reading, I’ll get better at that I promise. I’m back now and going to be doing a few posts on the small holiday in Scotland as we went and saw a few things. As you can see Duff House and Huntly Castle are two of them, will post more on them another day but they’re both worth looking at if you like wandering around castle ruins or old houses with lots of art. We also went and saw the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheeel and saw some small towns and villages. Nothing to do with any specific thing we saw but they had the Iron Broo Rock and I love Irn Bru so I had to try it. I will do more or a post, or posts, next week but it took a lot out of me so it’s going to be a few days of resting to get over it all. I do love visiting new places but it does take a while to get over it afterwards. These posts will probably be up the middle of next week when I’ve got all the photos uploaded and remembered where everything was taken!
Another reason for this post was that when I was away I passed my two year anniversary for this blog! I can’t believe it’s been 2 years I’ve been posting on here and thanks to everyone who reads my post Some! There’s over 200 people following me, I think I missed posting that milestone, and it might not seem like many to a lot of you but to have that many people think my blog is worth following is great so thank you! And here’s to another two years (or more)! 😄
I keep meaning to do some more bloggy blog posts but I hardly ever have anything to actually blog about so now I actually do I thought I’d finally get one done. I think the last one I did was probably around Christmas time, I will try to make sure the next one doesn’t have as big a gap in between.
This weekend we went down to South Wales to visit my grandparents, it’s been a while since I’ve seen them and we had a bit of a road trip with my sister and mum. I live in the midlands in England and pretty much the furthest point away from any coast you can get in the UK so it’s also nice to get to go to the beach and, for the first time in ages, the tide was actually out when we went.
Something beauty related in this post, I thought I’d include it in case anyone is interested, but the August edition of Marie Claire with Blake Lively on here in the UK has a Benefit Ready, Set, Brow! included as its free gift. It’s their invisible shaping and setting gel for brows and I think it’s the full sized version so it’s worth picking up the magazine if you want to give this a go. For the £3.99 the magazine costs it’s a pretty good price for a Benefit product. I think it’s the only products available though there are a few new ones in the Benefit brow product range. I don’t really do much with my brows but I’ll be having a play around with this and seeing how well it works.
I haven’t been posting much this week, I seem to be catching every bug that’s going round and have spent the past few days I’m bed sleeping most of the time.
I was hoping to have the review of the Sleek VIP lip lipsticks I bought, I have done the swatches and trying them out but migraines and computers don’t mix, hence this post being on my phone so I hope there aren’t many typos! As I didn’t get the post up I thought I’d do a mini post with a picture of the ones I have. So from left to right it’s Reserved (1001), Private Booth (1002), Backstage (1003) and Guest List (1006).
This picture has nothing to do with the post but I liked it and played around on my iPad apps a bit when I was in hospital so have an amazing day. It’s the sticker on the back of a parcel from Sugar and Vice that arrived in the post yesterday morning. Unfortunately the iPad app won’t save it as being centred (to me anyway) so sorry it’s a bit wonky!
The past few days I haven’t posted what I meant to as I was ill, I ended up spending the night in hospital last night but as they couldn’t find anything that was actually causing the problems and the pain seemed to fade without them doing anything to me today they decided to discharge me. Basically I haven’t had the energy or time to post a proper post or review and I’m not sure if I will for the rest of the week. I might do a short one on the Sugar and Vice necklaces on my iPad like this one because one is Halloweeny so it would be a bit late for me to post about it after that but the others I had planned this week will be moved to next week, or I’ll do a bit more reshuffling.
Anyway, this post was just sort of explaining why I might not be posting much coming up, depends how long it takes for me to recover as they said I definitely have a virus so it’s rest and drink lots of fluids at the moment. It’s so frustrating, just when I was planning on working on doing more physically I have to rest for a while and I’ve started blogging everyday but I’ll probably have to take a break from this which will just feel weird, even if it’s only for a week, especially as I’ve had Halloween themed posts planned for the past month for this week.
