I hope you guys are all doing ok and keeping safe at the moment. I planned on posting this last week but I ended up catching another bug going round, such bad timing! But this week I’ve been much better so thought I’d share some of my recent favourites. I’ll try to keep it short but there’s a bit of everything in here.Continue reading “My Recent Favourites from 2020 So Far”
I’ve always loved No7 skin care, it just seems to work for my skin, but it seems so expensive to get a full sized version of the ones I want to try, so when I saw that they had their Best Face Forward Set, with eleven products in and quite a lot of them skincare, down at £39 I had to get it. As I’m writing this it’s still on offer so hopefully it’ll be available either in a store near you or online. Even if it isn’t, at the full price of £80 it’s a good deal compared to getting them individually which shows how much of a discount you get on offer.
Everything in the set is focused on your face, as the name suggests, with makeup, masks and general skin care products. They’re all full sized, though I don’t think you can buy the sheet mask individually, and a few of them are ones I know I love and had wanted to repurchase. This is basically a first impressions of the others as I know this won’t be around for long so wanted to get it up quickly but still tried everything. Also I will probably do reviews of almost everything in this box at some time, so any in particular you’re interested in please leave a comment and I’ll try to do that one early in the list.
Unfortunately, as I am writing this, the website is down ready for them to put it back up for the sale. I will add the links afterwards as I’m sure most of these, if not all, are permanent products so I’ll add the links then.Continue reading “First Impressions: No7 Best Face Forward Gift Set”
You know you’ve waited too long to do a post on a product when it’s not available any more. I wanted to really give these things a try, the ones I didn’t have already, so it’s sort of four mini reviews in one post as they’re all available in the permanent line.
In the No7 box that was a free gift with purchase they had a mini version of the Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Facial Sun Protection SPF 15 and the Lash Impact Waterproof Mascara as well as a full sized Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil in bronze and Protect and Perfect Lip Care. This is a great mix of products to try for summer and I think any of them would be worth checking out, especially as No7 have a 3 for 2 offer in Boots at the moment.Continue reading “No7 Ready, Set, Summer Product Reviews”
Recently No7 released their HydraLuminous Moisturising Foundation and concealer, along with a range of skin care products. These are all supposed to help people with dry skin and the foundation is supposed to help to improve your skin over time, like an additional skin care step within your makeup routine. If you’re thinking of trying it I’d recommend giving it a go soon as, at the moment, it’s on an offer where everything in the range is £10 so you’d save £5 off the RRP of £15 on this foundation and more on some of the others.
I wouldn’t normally buy a foundation without testing it first but I know that their lightest shade, Calico, is a pretty good match for me and I have drops that can lighten or darken it if the colour match was a total failure. The idea of a medium coverage foundation from a company that my skin gets on with and also works for dry skin sounded too good to be true so I had to give it a try.Continue reading “Review: New No7 Hydraluminous Foundation in Calico”
It feels like it’s been a while since I last posted, it’s probably not been all that long but I think I needed to step back and life sort of took over. I’ll do more of a post about it soon but blogging was getting stressful, which is not what I ever want it to be, and this break means I’m actually looking forward to posting and have all these ideas. Anyway, onto the post itself.
I recently decided that I wasn’t really going to do many hauls, but as I’m going away to Fuerteventura in April I had so many things I wanted to get ready for that or that were on my list to buy after the no-buy February and my general decluttering that I felt like I wanted to share with you guys what I was getting. This is all from Boots and most of it is actually Soap and Glory but I am so ready for these summer products that I got a bit excited and may have bought almost everything in their new scent that they released in February. It did help that almost everything that I bought was in a mix and match three for two at the time so I got a few of these things free.Continue reading “Getting Ready for Holidays Haul Part 1: Boots”
I’ve been working on decluttering for the past couple of months, I’ve actually been pretty good and my cupboards look so much tidier. I’ve been sorting out my makeup recently and realised how much of the stuff I was keeping is just not me at all, or at least not any more. I’ve actually counted up how many things are in this declutter post and there’s fifty three pieces of makeup or accessories that are going! I didn’t realise I had that much!
I did start this off with a little review of each of them, but when you have fifty three to get through it would be so long, so instead I’m just going to link to any that I’ve already reviewed on here and say why I’m getting rid of them. I have to say there are a few that I never thought I’d declutter but they’re so old that if I did decide to reach for them I don’t think they’d do me any good. I have a new rule; if it smells like wax crayons, get rid of it!Onto the decluttering….
For the past few months I’ve been going through my collection, picking out a set amount of products and only using those for the month. I guess it’s kind of a way to find out if the products I’ve kept for ages are ones I really like or just don’t like the idea of letting go and keep them ‘just in case’ when that day never comes. So far it has also helped me to declutter because I’m actually using the products so I see how they work rather than just looking at the pretty colours or swatching them once and deciding to keep them.
This month I think everything I tried was old, I didn’t get any new products and everything I’ve had in my to use area has either been sat in my drawer waiting to be used, been loved at one point and forgotten, or something I was pretty sure I’d be keeping but wanted to use anyway.
Or maybe a better title would be ‘Why I Shouldn’t Keep Things Too Long.’ I’ve had a look through my collection and realised that some I used to love have gone beyond when they should be used, others are simply products I never really got on with but kept ‘just in case’ or free gift with purchases that I already had better versions of but kept anyway.
I’ve been working through my stash and using some of the ones that have fallen through the cracks or ones I haven’t used recently to decide which I’ll keep and which I’ll get rid of. At the end of the month there probably will be more joining these decluttered products but I wanted to do this as a separate post as otherwise that end of the month one will be way too long, plus these are ones I just don’t think I want to even try for the whole month before I get rid of them.
I’ve reviewed a few No7 mascaras on here but I hadn’t tried the Extreme Length Mascara before I got a mini one in a gift with purchase. The one I got was the waterproof one in black, though they have it in brown/black and a non waterproof version. The full sized mascara costs £13 and, as with a lot of No7 products, is often in a 3 for 2 offer or similar so it can be worth waiting until one of them to get it.
I have to admit that I am a fan of No7 mascaras, even when they aren’t waterproof they tend to last well and work as well as a lot of waterproof mascaras do when wet. I tend to go for brown/black mascara for a more natural look but as this one claims to lengthen and separate lash’s rather than add volume I was hoping it’d give a less extreme look than some others do.
I did a post like this a couple of years ago and have meant to do it since but they sort of fell below other posts and, since I’ve just come back from a couple of nights in Wales, I thought this was the perfect timing for an updated summer version. I really like reading these by other people, seeing what they choose to take and it gives me ideas in case I’ve forgotten something so I hope you guys like this post. It’s also interesting, to me anyway, when I was writing this to see how it compared to the same sort of things I was taking when I wrote the last one.
I have been known to take more than I need makeup wise, three palettes for two nights may be slightly over the top, so I tried to pack light and think I succeeded. As it’s summer time, or supposed to be, my makeup routine is quite different to a few months ago. The main difference is the foundation stage and this group of products has actually become my go to easy look for the past couple of weeks anyway so I guess it’s part my travel bag and part just my everyday look. I think I’ve actually reviewed most of these products so if I have I’ll try to link them.
