Review: Mont Bleu Nail Files, Foot File and Scissors

montbleuheader.jpg

I love doing my nails and over the years have spent more than I should have on nail products but until last Christmas I’d never owned a glass nail file. I was more a cheap and cheerful nail file kind of person though they did always get lost and worn out way too quickly. The best thing about glass nail files is how well they last, they keep the filing surface and you just have to wipe them with a damp cloth to clean them and you’re ready to go if they get a build up on them.

Until recently I hadn’t heard of Mont Bleu, a company from the Czech Republic who make glass nail files and nail tools that are hand painted and decorated, some with Swarovski crystals. They sent me these pretty nail files and scissors to try and a discount code for you guys if you want to buy anything from them. I’ve had them for a month to try out so I thought I’d do a post on them now I have given them a proper go and seen what they can do.

Fortune Cookie Soap: Let it Grow Spring 2016 Soap Box

FCSspring2

This morning my spring edition of the Fortune Cookie Soap Box arrived so I’m going to do a post about it now I’ve had a bit of a play around with some of the things. It’s more of a first impressions than a proper review but I have looked at everything.

If you haven’t heard of them before Fortune Cookie Soap are a company in the USA who make bath and body products and their signature product is the fortune cookie shaped soap. They have a large range of permanent products as well as regularly releasing limited edition seasonal ranges that are around for a while and mini collections that are a lot more limited and sell out fast. Their website is here but this collection isn’t available until February 19th. They do a Soap Box that’s released every few months before each of the main collections is released, normally for the seasons so four times a year. As I live in the UK this has taken a while to get here, if I believe the postage sticker thing then over a month as it says 2nd January postage so that’s worth knowing if you’re worried about it arriving if you order it in the future. The box contains 8 -10 samples of a range of products, one in each of the scents that’s going to be released in the upcoming range. Included in this are two full sized products; one of their fortune cookie soaps and a small size of the OCD hand sanitizer. They used to only sell this size but have recently started to sell a larger version too.

Each of the seasonal collections has another theme alongside normally, this time it’s Let it Grow which I think it based around something Dr Seuss related if I remember correctly, maybe someone can tell me which one as I can’t find it after looking online for a bit. I don’t know what it’s based on so I won’t get any in jokes and none of them really stand out as obviously to do with anything Dr Seuss that I remember.

Advent 2015: Day 15

Processed with Moldiv

Since I first opened my M&S box there has been this amazing fruity sweet smell that wafts up every so often and I was looking forward to the product that went with the scent and today is the day I opened it. It’s the Roger and Gallet Hand and Nail Balm in Fleur de Figuier, which I think translates to flower of figs and I love it. Today’s Yankee Candle was another Angel’s Wings which is always good as I do like this scent, I’m actually burning some of the less year round scents over this to use them during the season and these can burn any time throughout the year.

Advent 2015: Day 2

I do love these advent calendars, today in the Marks and Spencer one I got a Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream which I think is full size, if not it’s a great size anyway as you don’t need much at a time. I think that the Yankee candle one is cinnamon stick as it doesn’t actually say which is which number, even inside the door, which does leave a bit of guess work for the first one of each until I have one of all of them open so I can compare the more spice based ones to work them out.

Yesterday’s post ended up being done on the laptop because it froze in the app trying to post it, will see if I can get the hang of the app to do these from now on though. I’m hoping this read more thing works but if not I’ll just have to edit it later.

Advent day 18

advent18

Today’s product is another full sized product and one I think I will be using quite a bit. It’s the emergency file from Stylfile, a nail file designed to be used on the go and kept in your bag with the spiral cover to protect the other things next to it. The first thing I saw was this cover, it seems like it’ll last well as it’s a strong plastic though it may bend over time, I’ll have to see. As the shape is at the moment it holds the file in well without making it difficult to get the file out. The keyring loop on the end means it can be attached to keyrings or your purse so it’s easy to find, I probably won’t be doing this but it’s nice to have it as an option.
