Review: Pur Fully Charged Mascara

pur-fully-charged-mascara-2

I got this mini tube of Pur Fully Charged Mascara from the Marks and Spencer’s Summer Beauty Box. I do like having these mini sizes when it comes to mascara as I don’t think I’ve ever actually got to the end of a mascara before it’s dried up and these are great to throw in your bag for touch ups. This is a 4g tube but the12g costs £17.50 on the Marks and Spencer website (if it gets back in stock) and the Look Fantastic website and the general design and wand seem to be the same, just a shorter version in this one.

It claims to be magnetically charged, which seems to come from the charges in the particles that react with each other and attracts the mascara to the eyelashes. I wasn’t sure how much I believed in this so was definitely interested to see if there was any way to see this in action and if it would be any different to a standard mascara. Pur cosmetics are cruelty free and vegan friendly.

Review: No7 Extreme Length Waterproof Black Mascara

no7-extreme-length-waterproof-mascara-1

I’ve reviewed a few No7 mascaras on here but I hadn’t tried the Extreme Length Mascara before I got a mini one in a gift with purchase. The one I got was the waterproof one in black, though they have it in brown/black and a non waterproof version. The full sized mascara costs £13 and, as with a lot of No7 products, is often in a 3 for 2 offer or similar so it can be worth waiting until one of them to get it.

I have to admit that I am a fan of No7 mascaras, even when they aren’t waterproof they tend to last well and work as well as a lot of waterproof mascaras do when wet. I tend to go for brown/black mascara for a more natural look but as this one claims to lengthen and separate lash’s rather than add volume I was hoping it’d give a less extreme look than some others do.

Marks and Spencer’s Summer Beauty Box

marks-and-spencer-summer-beauty-box-5

I did have another post planned but as the Marks and Spencer’s Summer Beauty Box arrived in the post today I couldn’t wait to do a post on the products in it. Similar to their beauty advent calendar these boxes have a much higher value than this price, this one is around £135 of products they say on the site, but you have to spend £40 in Marks and Spencer’s to get it for the discounted price of £15. Since I wanted curtains from there anyway I just added this to the basket as it’s such a bargain and there are a few products in here I was planning on getting anyway.

There’s quite a good range of different products in the box. Some are full sized and others are travel sized or deluxe samples but they cover the spectrum of beauty pretty well. There’s a couple of makeup bits with mascara and liquid lipstick, some summer products like after sun and SPF lip balms and quite a few hair and body products. It’s actually pretty evenly spread out and a great way to try some of these brands as the full sized products of some would cost more than the box and any that aren’t full sized are still a decent sample size.

Review: Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Smudge Out Mascara

tony-moly-panda's-dream-smudge-out-mascara-4.jpg

I have so many mascaras in my stash I’m slowly working my way through trying them and seeing which I prefer so the next on the list is the Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Smudge Out Mascara. I will admit that the thing that caught my eye with this is the packaging. I love how cute the Tony Moly products are and the Panda shaped mascara wand on this one just stood out to me. I’ve also found that their makeup works really well for me. The Smudge Out name on this mascara did surprise me, most English speaking countries would choose anti-smudge or something like that, but it basically means it won’t smudge, or shouldn’t anyway.

I found this mascara on the TK Maxx website a while ago, though I haven’t seen it since, and I can’t remember how much I spent on it but I want to say around the £5 mark. I think the best place to find it if you’re in the UK is eBay at the moment.

Review: Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

eyeko-black-magic-mascara-2

Mascara is not something I am low on at the moment, especially black mascara, so I’m going through the ones I have and trying them all to see which to keep and which to get rid of. Most of these are sample sizes and this Eyeko Black Magic Mascara is what I’d call a travel size at 4ml so useful for a handbag and big enough to get quite a few uses from. It came in the Marks and Spencer beauty advent calendar last year and you can see my first impressions post here. I’ve not tried much from Eyeko but I’m a fan of their liquid eyeliner pen so I was looking forward to seeing how this mascara compared.

One thing I’ve noticed about this when looking for it online is that there seem to be different brush versions. Some may be bad photographs when showing the shape but they’re available in a skinny and normal brush, both the same price. The full 8ml tube is £16 on QVC UK or £19 from the Marks and Spencer’s website, which seems to be the standard price. It claims to be waterproof and add drama and curl and the standard wand has a curved shape that’s supposed to match the shape of your lashes, which I think is a nice touch but does mean you can only really use it one way.

Blogmas Day 15!

Today I got one of the sweeter wax tarts, I do love gingerbread around this time of year and, although I’m not normally a fan of bakery scents gingerbread is one that I quite enjoy sometimes. It’s the Warm Gingerbread wax tart from the Scented Seasons Shop Twelve Scents of Christmas set from Etsy and I’m just picking them out at random to make my own kind of advent calendar. The full set costs £15 for the twelve or you can choose the scents individually for £1.25.

I haven’t had much makeup this year in the Marks and Spencer’s beauty advent calendar and today we got some more, though it’s a second mascara in the form of the Diego Dalla Palma Ciglione Mascara. To be honest I’d prefer a bit more variety and to have got something else Makeup today rather than a second mascara but it’s not one I’ve tried before. It seems to be one of those mascaras claiming to do everything, it says it’s a 5-in-1, so it’ll be interesting to try. This is a full sized product and these are worth £17.50 so it’ll be interesting to see if it works better than my standard mascara given that it’s more expensive.

Blogmas 2017: Day 8!

Today’s gift in the Marks and Spencer’s beauty advent calendar is a travel sized version of the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara. I can’t remember if I’ve tried this one before, I know the liquid eyeliner pen was in last year’s and I liked that, it seemed good quality so I’m happy to have more from them, even if I do already have so many black mascaras. The full sized tube is 8ml for £19, this tube is 4ml so it’s got about £9.50 of product and these travel sized mascaras always last ages for me. I’ve tended to find that I end up throwing them out because the time is up on keeping mascara or they’ve dried out rather than running out of product.

I can’t believe it’s a week into December, or over a week in, and we haven’t got our Christmas tree up yet. I’m not opening one of the wax tarts today because I still haven’t burnt the one from a couple of days ago so it’ll be tomorrow for the next one. I’ll probably end up having three or four of them nearer to Christmas. I think this is going to be the latest post for blogmas, sorry it’s so late! A mix of poor internet and trying to get things done I was going to do yesterday alongside today’s things to do meant everything didn’t go to plan today! Also, wow WordPress on the iPad has changed, this may take ting used to. I may have accidentally pressed publish before I’d finished this post just now, oops!

My Travel Makeup Bag: Short Summer Break

summertravelbagheader.jpg

I did a post like this a couple of years ago and have meant to do it since but they sort of fell below other posts and, since I’ve just come back from a couple of nights in Wales, I thought this was the perfect timing for an updated summer version. I really like reading these by other people, seeing what they choose to take and it gives me ideas in case I’ve forgotten something so I hope you guys like this post. It’s also interesting, to me anyway, when I was writing this to see how it compared to the same sort of things I was taking when I wrote the last one.

I have been known to take more than I need makeup wise, three palettes for two nights may be slightly over the top, so I tried to pack light and think I succeeded. As it’s summer time, or supposed to be, my makeup routine is quite different to a few months ago. The main difference is the foundation stage and this group of products has actually become my go to easy look for the past couple of weeks anyway so I guess it’s part my travel bag and part just my everyday look. I think I’ve actually reviewed most of these products so if I have I’ll try to link them.

Review: No7 Lovely Lashes Mascara

lovelylashesheader

Late last week I made an order for a couple of No7 mascaras, one of them being the Lovely Lashes mascara in brown/black (£13). I haven’t tried this one yet and wanted to give it a go, I’ve liked a lot of the No7 mascaras I’ve tried and like the brown/black colour as it’s a bit softer than the black but dark enough to still stand out more than a lighter brown.

This mascara claims glossy, natural volume with argan oil in the formula that helps to nourish and condition the lashes too so I was interested to see how it would turn out and if it would help improve the condition of my lashes. I tend to go for a more natural looking mascara so mascaras that add definition or length over volume but I’ve also found that a lot of the mascaras promising volume need a couple of coats to have a real boost of volume. I was more interested in the glossy finish and nourishing properties this formula is meant to have.

No7 Free Gift and Mini Boots Haul

summergiftandhaulheader.jpg

I recently made a small order from Boots, mainly because I needed a new mascara so I decided to get two as there’s an offer to get a free set when you buy two which had things I liked the look of in so I got two mascaras and some sheet masks as they were in a great offer. If you like the Boots Ingredients Sheet Masks then now is a great time to buy them, or try them if you’ve been interested but not got them yet, as they’re normally £2.50 but at the moment they’re four for £3 so 75p each which is a great price for any sheet mask in the UK.

The summer gift for No7 has a great mix in it, for me anyway, and you could almost do a full face with it, I’m tempted to try. You get a bronze eyeliner, waterproof mascara, lip gloss and face sun cream so for a beach day with minimal makeup you’re pretty much covered. I haven’t tried some of here before so I’m interested to see what they’re like. These offers tend to last a while, going by past experience, and this one is fairly new but they often run out of stock in actual stores quickly and I think you probably have a month online from when it was first released, it all depends on how long it’s running and I can’t find an end date.
