You know you’ve waited too long to do a post on a product when it’s not available any more. I wanted to really give these things a try, the ones I didn’t have already, so it’s sort of four mini reviews in one post as they’re all available in the permanent line.
In the No7 box that was a free gift with purchase they had a mini version of the Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Facial Sun Protection SPF 15 and the Lash Impact Waterproof Mascara as well as a full sized Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil in bronze and Protect and Perfect Lip Care. This is a great mix of products to try for summer and I think any of them would be worth checking out, especially as No7 have a 3 for 2 offer in Boots at the moment.
I am so happy with today’s Funko Pop figure. Dobby is so cute and is pretty much the perfect character for the Pop proportions, he’s almost the right shape anyway without them distorting him as much as other characters. Plus he has his sock! Also loving the fact there’s another lip balm in the Holland and Barrett beauty advent calendar. This time of year I can never have too many of them and I was starting to run out.
My lips seem to get chapped and dry throughout the year, so today’s Holland and Barrett product is definitely welcome, especially as they get worse in the winter. The Funko Pop figures for today adds to the Weasley family. I like how they’ve included Ginny in here as she’s a fairly main character but seems to be sort of forgotten in a lot of Harry Potter licensed products.
Or maybe a better title would be ‘Why I Shouldn’t Keep Things Too Long.’ I’ve had a look through my collection and realised that some I used to love have gone beyond when they should be used, others are simply products I never really got on with but kept ‘just in case’ or free gift with purchases that I already had better versions of but kept anyway.
I’ve been working through my stash and using some of the ones that have fallen through the cracks or ones I haven’t used recently to decide which I’ll keep and which I’ll get rid of. At the end of the month there probably will be more joining these decluttered products but I wanted to do this as a separate post as otherwise that end of the month one will be way too long, plus these are ones I just don’t think I want to even try for the whole month before I get rid of them.
I’ve been a bit quiet recently, I’ve had an unplanned busy last few weeks and I was too drained to do anything last week and had to take a week off to recover. I’m back now, I’ll probably do a proper update on what I’ve been up to later in the week, and I had to do a first impressions type post on the Happy Place Cosmetics July Box that got here last week.
I realised recently I haven’t bought anything from Happy Place Cosmetics for a while, I love their bath products but since they’ve become more popular I always seem to miss out on the restocks and everything I want is gone! I don’t know if it’s a recent thing but they do a monthly box, either sold individually or in a set of three, and I managed to get a July box before they sold out. These boxes come with full size or sample sizes and the products inside can be already on the site or exclusives to the boxes so you never really know what you’ll get.
In my box I got four full sized products, or I think they’re full sized but I’m not sure on the bath bomb, and each of them added up comes to more than the £30 price tag of the box. The July box has a face scrub a bath and shower whip (though I’m pretty sure it’s a sugar scrub I got), a lip balm and a bath bomb so there’s a good range of different products in there and it’d be a great way to try the company out.
I always seem to have dry lips, it doesn’t matter what the weather I need some kind of lip balm to stop them from getting worse, though in a recent declutter I realised I was down to my last one. With the recent weather I’ve been using a lot of products with higher SPF in them, including lip balms. As I got two in the recent Marks and Spencer’s Summer Beauty Box it seemed like a good time to post about my three favourite high SPF lip balms. When I say high I’m going by the categories on the lip balms and all of these have an SPF of 30.
I’ve always tried to use lip products with SPF in them in the summer, it seems to make sense if you’re covering your body with SPF to do it to your lips too, but a lot of them with the higher coverage seemed to fall flat when it comes to being a lip balm. I’ve tried so many that didn’t help with the moisturising and left me feeling like I had to reapply it every ten minutes or that left my slips feeling oily or tacky, but these three stand out to me as good at what I want them to do.
I did have another post planned but as the Marks and Spencer’s Summer Beauty Boxarrived in the post today I couldn’t wait to do a post on the products in it. Similar to their beauty advent calendar these boxes have a much higher value than this price, this one is around £135 of products they say on the site, but you have to spend £40 in Marks and Spencer’s to get it for the discounted price of £15. Since I wanted curtains from there anyway I just added this to the basket as it’s such a bargain and there are a few products in here I was planning on getting anyway.
There’s quite a good range of different products in the box. Some are full sized and others are travel sized or deluxe samples but they cover the spectrum of beauty pretty well. There’s a couple of makeup bits with mascara and liquid lipstick, some summer products like after sun and SPF lip balms and quite a few hair and body products. It’s actually pretty evenly spread out and a great way to try some of these brands as the full sized products of some would cost more than the box and any that aren’t full sized are still a decent sample size.
It’s Christmas Eve! It doesn’t actually feel like it to me, Christmas sort of snuck up in me, and I’m still doing last minute wrapping. Today is mainly full of all the fun jobs preparing for Christmas and the dinner tomorrow and I expect I’ll feel more Christmassy later but it doesn’t feel like it now. Think we’ll be watching Santa Claus: The Movie tonight, it’s a bit of a tradition. Do you guys have movies you watch in Christmas Eve or other family traditions?
With it being Christmas Eve that means the last day in most of my advent calendars, the Marks and Spencer one has an extra day for Christmas so there will be one last, shorter, post tomorrow but this is the end of another year of advent and I’ve been very happy with pretty much everything I’ve got. Today I have a few full sized products, the Marks and Spencer advent calendar has a Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm in Peppermint which I is always a good product to get in the colder weather. The Ciate Mini Mani Month today has a full sized bottle, it’s an exclusive glitter called Meet Me at Midnight, and the bottle itself is so pretty too. The Yankee Candle advent calendar has a votive candle this time and it’s in the scent Christmas Eve, very appropriate, and the Lindt chocolate is a smaller version of the chocolate Santas they do and I had to confluence photos of it out of the wrapping because it’s just so detailed.
As I know a lot of you probably won’t be reading tomorrow, if anyone’s still following this advent, I thought I’d just say Merry Christmas! And have a great weekend whether you celebrate Christmas or not!
I did a mini review of this Autograph Ultra Shine Twist-Up Lip Colour when I first got it in the Marks and Spencer advent calendar but I’ve been using it for a few months and have had a better chance to really try it out. I haven’t seen much on these lip colours from Marks and Spencer which has surprised me when this one has definitely impressed me a lot. These cost £9.50 each though they seem to have changed the name as I am 90% sure that this Ultra Shine is the same as the Ultimate Shine one that is on the website here as it includes the colour Nude and has exactly the same packaging.
As this is a Marks and Spencer product it is cruelty free, this one carries the leaping bunny logo and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. They have a fairly good range of colours with neutrals, reds, berries and a pink but there isn’t a huge number of different shades. I can’t find anywhere that gives an actual value to the amount of product in these but I have taken a couple of photos next to a Soap and Glory one that says it has 1.5g to give an idea of the amount of product you get.
This month there’s quite a few things on my list and, again, it’s a very mixed bag of favourites. I tend to stick with a lot of the same makeup so I don’t really get new favourites there, I’m trying to go through my palettes and work out which to get rid of as I have more than I need, though having watched decluttering videos on YouTube from makeup channels on there I don’t feel so bad, I probably have less to start with than they do after it. I guess that should be another favourite this month, I’ve ended up watching a lot of decluttering videos, also quite a few makeup storage ones for ideas as my drawer isn’t the most organised aside from the palette collection so I need some inspiration there.
