I was looking for a magazine to take with me on the car journey to Wales and browsing through the ones they had on offer at our local store I saw Marie Claire. To be honest the free Eyeko Black Magic Eyelash Curler wasn’t much of a pull, I rarely curl my eyelashes and the Elf one I have is ok for when I do, but as it was the magazine that actually interested me the most I picked it up and thought I’d do a first impressions post of the eyelash curlers themselves and see how they compare to previous ones I’ve owned. They were never the best quality so I’d hope these would work better given the difference in RRP and maybe these would change my mind about eyelash curlers.
With this month’s Marie Claire in the UK there is an option of three different Eyeko products; the eyelash curler (£12), a brow gel (£10) and a waterproof mascara (£10) and I probably would have picked the mascara if it had been an option. Considering the magazine costs £3.99 it’s a pretty cheap way of getting one of these if you’re on the market for an eyelash curler, I know part of the higher price is the free gift but it’s still a third of the original RRP.
I only got this nail varnish today but as it was in a magazine offer I wanted to do the post asap because I know how quickly these things disappear and I don’t know how long it’s been out. This Porchester Square nail varnish was a free gift in the UK Elle magazine, which also came with a Cosmopolitan and cost £4.50 which is a great price for an almost full sized Nails Inc polish, these are 10ml compared to the 14 ml of a full sized one. I have a feeling that this one won’t be around much longer as it’s the May edition (with Victoria Beckham on the front) so that tends to mean the June one will be out soon going by when magazines are released.
I can’t seem to find this in the same bottle on their website but it is available in the newer design 14ml bottle here for £15. I’m not sure which style bottle I prefer but I’m pretty sure it’s the same formula so it’s not one of those colours made exclusively for a magazine that you can never find again. That annoys me when you find a colour you love with a magazine but it’s not available afterwards. I also seem to find that a lot of Nails Inc polishes you get free with magazine seem consistently better to me than ones I’ve actually bought full price.
I keep meaning to do some more bloggy blog posts but I hardly ever have anything to actually blog about so now I actually do I thought I’d finally get one done. I think the last one I did was probably around Christmas time, I will try to make sure the next one doesn’t have as big a gap in between.
This weekend we went down to South Wales to visit my grandparents, it’s been a while since I’ve seen them and we had a bit of a road trip with my sister and mum. I live in the midlands in England and pretty much the furthest point away from any coast you can get in the UK so it’s also nice to get to go to the beach and, for the first time in ages, the tide was actually out when we went.
Something beauty related in this post, I thought I’d include it in case anyone is interested, but the August edition of Marie Claire with Blake Lively on here in the UK has a Benefit Ready, Set, Brow! included as its free gift. It’s their invisible shaping and setting gel for brows and I think it’s the full sized version so it’s worth picking up the magazine if you want to give this a go. For the £3.99 the magazine costs it’s a pretty good price for a Benefit product. I think it’s the only products available though there are a few new ones in the Benefit brow product range. I don’t really do much with my brows but I’ll be having a play around with this and seeing how well it works.
