I’ve always loved miniatures and there have been so many times I’ve had a Re-Ment set in a basket and not got it, so when I saw the Pokémon Terrarium Re-Ment Set on Plaza Japan for £29.41 with cheap shipping I had to get it. I love the terrariums I’ve seen on Etsy but they’ve always been a bit more expensive, a lot of them seemed to be more than this for one, and I liked the mix of Pokémon in this set.
They’ve done four collections, number five is available for
pre-order, and this one is the second one. It’s got some of my favourite Pokémon
in there with Articuno and the Sandshrew and Cubone one is so cute. It comes
with six different mini displays inside clear pokeballs. All of them are from
the first generation of Pokémon except for Togepi but it’s been in Pokémon so
long I always think it was.
I recently bought two of the three starter Pokémon from Loz Diamond Blocks and when I saw the original Nanoblocks version of Bulbasaur on the Plaza Japan site I had to add him to my order. I’ve wondered what the difference would be between the two brands and it seemed like the perfect chance to compare the two. As far as I know Nanoblocks are the originals and a lot of their designs have been made in the Loz range.
The main difference between the two, in the past anyway, was
the price and how hard it is to get a lot of the Nanoblocks sets here in the UK
from a trusted seller. The Plaza Japan prices aren’t all that different to the
Loz blocks here in the UK but then you will probably get hit by customs so that’s
something to consider if you wanted to order any of their Nanoblocks range,
they do have a lot of them to choose from though.
Today was the turn of the second face mask in the Holland and Barrett beauty advent calendar, I think this is the only duplicate product in the calendar. The Harry Potter Funko Pop figure was Hedwig, the second pet and another that I have in the blind box Funko version.
It feels quite appropriate that today’s Blogmas question was about food, we went food shopping today and came back with what looked like enough to last a month! I have a feeling the Christmas food will still be being eaten in January. We always think that we’re getting less than last year but it still seems to be way too much. At least we have a lot less chocolate this year, I think the extras are different fruit and nuts so at least that’s better, right?
Also, I think I have a new favourite Christmas drink. I might have to go to Ikea each year to get the Glögg, though I might see if I can find somewhere else that sells it near me as I don’t want to have to deal with those crowds and I know I’ll just end up buying things I don’t need every year if I do go!
One of our family traditions is to make our own crackers, though they look a bit different as they use party poppers for the bang and are quite a bit bigger than your standard cracker. We often end up rushing to make them a couple of days before Christmas, but this year we actually got them done a week before so I’m feeling very organised. I also watched Bed-knobs and Broomsticks because I realised I don’t think I’ve seen it since I was small and couldn’t really remember what it was about, apart from the magic bed bit. After watching it I realised why we haven’t seen it since! Do you ever see a movie you thought was good and realise that actually it was better not to rewatch it after all?
Today’s advent calendar presents were definitely good, especially after yesterday’s slightly more disappointing ones. The first proper makeup, and I think maybe the only makeup if I remember correctly, in the Holland and Barrett beauty advent calendar with a B.B. Cream, and a nicely detailed Hagrid in the Funko Pop Harry Potter advent calendar.
Today in the advent calendars I got a miniature of one of the full sized Funko Pops I own. Maybe it’s just me but I always like mini things and seeing a mini version of a figure I like is always interesting to compare them. The Holland and Barrett beauty advent calendar has a moisturiser from a brand I’ve heard of and been interested in but never actually bought anything from. I’ve been leaving my moisturiser to run out as I always get so much skin care in these things and today it’s moisturiser day, just in time as well.
The house smells of Christmas cooking today. I love making Christmas food and yesterday I made some mincemeat slices, like mince pies but with oats and wholemeal flour rather than standard pastry, and they are so nice but slightly healthier (only slightly). Today we may have ended up going shopping and buying more Christmas cakes. We’ve never really got them before but we got some mini Stollen and Lebkuchen, I think the lebkuchen are some of my favourite Christmas sweet foods. I’m the only one in the family who likes them so we don’t normally get them, but it was a small pack at a good price and they’re being kept till Christmas so I’ll try and be good and not sneak any before then! Do you guys have any favourite Christmas foods?
Back home after the weekend and today’s been so busy that it’s not so Christmassy feeling now! I don’t think I’ve done anything all that festive today, I started a course for developing a business to see if I can create a business plan so it’s all been about that so far. It’s exciting lead up to Christmas may not have been the best time to start on this!
I am loving the moisturiser in the Holland and Barrett 25 Days of Cleaner Beauty Advent Calendar, it’s one of the things I was most looking forward to trying, and the Funko Pop Harry Potter Calendar is adding to the Hogwarts staff with a pretty detailed and well done character.
How did this not post on the 4th? Sorry guys, but it does mean 2 today!
The decoration boxes are back in the attic and all the clutter is cleared away so it finally looks properly Christmassy. It’s surprising how many boxes there are, though this year we’ve not used as many lights as normal I can’t seems how we used the extra sets. I also gave my blue tongue skink’s vivarium a Christmas theme, he seems to like it so far, he’s been climbing on his mini Christmas tree and hiding under the sparkly flower.
In the advent calendars today I got the first of the Pocket Pops that I already own in a full sized version. The Holland and Barrett beauty advent calendar has a soap in from a company that I’ve heard of but never tried, which I might end up looking at in the future for bath products.
Why does Christmas decorating always take longer than you expect? Or I guess it’s more preparing for decorating, I swear I spent an hour untangling lights today, and it’s so tiring. Tomorrow will be putting the decoration boxes back in the attic and all of the boxes will be away for a month or so. I’ve still got some bits to sort out in my room and tidying it all away, I’m sure our puppy will miss the fun of poking around in all of them and helping us to sort them out.
Day 2 in the advent calendars was another good one, though I know the Funko ones will be as they’re all mini Funko Pop Harry Potter figures and I’m trying to work out if they’ll all fit onto my mini shelves in one go. The Holland and Barrett Organic Herbal Tea Calendar was a good one and I think the 25 Days of Cleaner Beauty one had one of the more interesting and unusual products for a beauty advent calendar.
This year I planned on getting a couple of advent calendars, one was going to be the Marks and Spencer’s Beauty Advent calendar, the other was probably going to be the cheapest of the three Body Shop ones. However, I managed to write down the wrong date for the M&S one so missed out on it and the Body Shop one was sold out by the time I had the room in my budget so I’ve been having a look around at some and actually will have four within my budget for two (I have one on the way which I will link to at the end as well). I did plan on getting the NYX one too, which may sneak into a basket if it goes on offer but I don’t really need the extra makeup even if the colours do look gorgeous!
I think this year will be the biggest variety in advent calendars I have ever had, it pretty much covers most of the things I like and they aren’t even really linked in any way. The first is from Funko Pop and is one I found by accident and had to get when I saw it was in stock, the second is a beauty advent calendar that was better than half price and has some amazing products in but it’s not one I’ve seen any posts on in advent calendar round ups, and the final one I have with me is full of tea! The fourth is Christmas decorations for the tree and I just love the style of them, plus I did originally decide to get it before I found any of the others and I just wanted an advent calendar.
I’m not sure when these were released, though I do kind of want to collect all of them now I know they exist. I found three of the Funko Mystery Minis from the Harry Potter collection on eBay, though as I knew which they were these aren’t exactly mysteries. I think that in the UK these are only available online, with the prices ranging from £4.99 to £12.99 as a mystery, unopened box and the different characters have different prices depending on the rarity.
Maybe it’s just me but there seem to have been a lot of different Funko Mini Mystery box series released, a large amount seem to be from various TV series and a lot of Disney characters. I might have to get a few of those some time in the future.
