I’ve been working on decluttering for the past couple of
months, I’ve actually been pretty good and my cupboards look so much tidier. I’ve
been sorting out my makeup recently and realised how much of the stuff I was
keeping is just not me at all, or at least not any more. I’ve actually counted
up how many things are in this declutter post and there’s fifty three pieces of
makeup or accessories that are going! I didn’t realise I had that much!
I did start this off with a little review of each of them,
but when you have fifty three to get through it would be so long, so instead I’m
just going to link to any that I’ve already reviewed on here and say why I’m
getting rid of them. I have to say there are a few that I never thought I’d declutter
but they’re so old that if I did decide to reach for them I don’t think they’d
do me any good. I have a new rule; if it smells like wax crayons, get rid of
Onto the decluttering….
I did a post like this a couple of years ago and have meant to do it since but they sort of fell below other posts and, since I’ve just come back from a couple of nights in Wales, I thought this was the perfect timing for an updated summer version. I really like reading these by other people, seeing what they choose to take and it gives me ideas in case I’ve forgotten something so I hope you guys like this post. It’s also interesting, to me anyway, when I was writing this to see how it compared to the same sort of things I was taking when I wrote the last one.
I have been known to take more than I need makeup wise, three palettes for two nights may be slightly over the top, so I tried to pack light and think I succeeded. As it’s summer time, or supposed to be, my makeup routine is quite different to a few months ago. The main difference is the foundation stage and this group of products has actually become my go to easy look for the past couple of weeks anyway so I guess it’s part my travel bag and part just my everyday look. I think I’ve actually reviewed most of these products so if I have I’ll try to link them.

Over the past few years I’ve tried quite a few different eye primers and, when I was getting some things from the Models Own store online I saw that they do them and, as they cost less than my current Urban Decay Primer Potion at £6.99 I wanted to see how it compared. I used to love the Elf Studio eyeshadow primer that came in a double ended thing with an eyeliner primer too I think but I haven’t been able to find it recently so I’ve been looking for a lower budget replacement to the UD.
There are different finished for their Eye Base eyeshadow primer, the one I chose is matte as I do like matte eyeshadows recently so I thought it might help to keep the finish better. They’re all £5.99 and available from the Models Own website as well as on Superdrug and Asos. I guess they’re probably available in most places that sell the Models Own makeup range but I don’t know of any others in the UK since Boots seems to have stopped.
