Until recently the Primark I go to hasn’t had that much of a range of the beauty products that have been seeing everywhere on blogs, so when I went in and they had some colours I liked the look of I got them. They didn’t have a huge range, I think this was one of two metallic lip kits and there were two mattes, but enough to try them out and at £3 each for a set with a lip liner and a liquid lipstick it seemed like a great deal to give them a go.
The colour I’ve got is from the Get Lippy Metallic Collection and is a sort of coppery coral kind of metallic colour called Molten Lava. The liquid lipstick and lip liner are both the same colour, I’m assuming they’re both called Molten Lava as well, and I haven’t seen any of these available separately. Unfortunately Primark don’t sell online so it’s either risk paying over the odds on eBay or a similar site or go into the stores and see what they have in stock.
Recently Sleek released their limited edition Whimsical Wonderland collection which included an eyeshadow palette, three Lip VIP semi-matte lipsticks and three gel blushes. I did a post on the All the Fun of the Fair eyeshadow palette if you want to see that and will be doing one on the gel blush I bought as well on Friday so I’ll add the link here then.
I bought all three of the Lip VIPs as I liked the formula of the permanent line colours and these just looked so bright and I do have a bit of a weakness for purple lipsticks even if I rarely wear them. The three shades are Big Shot (light purple), Fancy Pants (coral) and Hot Tottie (bright pink) and they’re all very different to any of the colours in the permanent range. These cost £5.49 each and can be found on the Superdrug and Sleek Makeup websites, though they’re in a two for £10 offer at the moment in Superdrug along with some other Sleek things so it’s worth getting them from there if the offer’s still on when you look.
I did reviews of the two Sleek palettes they’ve recently released, All Night Long and A New Day, last week and at the same time I bought four of the six new lip products they released at the same time. These are the Lip VIPS, I’ve been calling them the VIP lips in previous posts but I think you could tell what I meant anyway.
The Lip VIP Lipsticks are sold as Semi-Matte Lipsticks and are available in a range of six colours, they have a small range of colour including a nude, two pink based colours, a coral based colour, a bright orange and a bright red. These cost £5.49 from Boots and Superdrug and are £5.50 on their own website but in the UK they’re also available in stores, though it may take some time for them to be available everywhere. I don’t normally buy lipsticks online, then again I don’t often buy lipsticks as I back out in stores and then wish I’d bought them later and I may have got a bit carried away with the new releases and wanted to see how these were. When I bought these they were in a two for £8 offer, though this seems to have finished at the moment.
The four colours that I chose were the more everyday colours, at least on the website. I will say that one thing about these that was slightly disappointing was the difference between the colours on the website and the actual product. Online two of the colours I bought, Backstage and Reserved, looked like fairly standard pinks, more muted than in real life. The Nude, Private Booth is pretty accurate and Guest List is fairly close, just a more orange tint than expected. I am glad that I didn’t buy the brightest, Flaunt it which is orange looking and Night Spot that looks like a classic red. I have tried all of the four I have to see how well they last so hopefully this review will be helpful if you’re interested in these.
