I Think I May Have Too Many Books

toread1.jpg

Well, maybe it’s not possible to have too many books, I guess I should say I have too many books I haven’t actually read yet. And my collection seems to just keep growing. I thought maybe one way of limiting myself would be to take photos and list all of the books I own that I haven’t read that I want to in 2016. I will also have this list printed out so I can actually cross them off as I read them but I don’t have the commitment to find this post every time and edit it to ross them out so this list will have to do.

I have a bad feeling that if I continue my plan of a book a week (which failed this week as I had things to do on the weekend that took all my energy so I’m drained at the moment) then I will still have some of these left over at the end of the year. I haven’t actually counted or listed the books yet as I write this so we’ll see.

Book Review – Dracula by Bram Stoker

dracula1Title: Dracula

Author: Bram Stoker

Year written: 1897

Publisher and year: Penguin Classics, 2011

ISBN Number: 978-0-141-19688-6

Another classic that’s been on my to read list for a while and I did start it around Halloween as another kind of spooky book, it’s just taken me a while to read it. This is another in the Penguin Clothbound Classics collection as I just love the covers on these. There’s so many editions of this so the actual story part of the review will be the same for all but some bits are reviews on this edition.

This edition has an RRP of £14.99 and it’s on sale in Waterstones with a small discount at £11.99. I bought this copy on Amazon and it cost less than half of the RRP here. I’d say if you want this exact edition then look around for the best price, though other versions will have varying prices and there’s probably copies available in second hand stores for a lot less.

Book Review: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

frankenstein4Title: Frankenstein

Author: Mary Shelley

Year written: 1818

Publisher and year: Penguin Classics, 2013

ISBN Number: 978-0-141-39339-1

It might be a bit of an odd one to review as it’s not a recent book, not that any of the ones I’ve read have really been new, but I hadn’t read it so I thought I would. This is one of those books that I have wanted to read for ages and I’ve been told multiple times it’s one of those ones that everyone should read in their life so when I saw this version in the sale at the beginning of this year I bought it. I have a bit of a weakness for pretty books and I needed to replace my copy of Jungle Book which had been destroyed by water so I got one of those in this collection too. These Penguin Clothbound Classics are so gorgeous I think I’ll be collecting them.

As there are so many editions of this book that have been published throughout the years and in different languages part of this book will be about the story and part of the review is also going to be about this exact edition as it has so many extras to the normal versions I’ve seen in stores.
