Review: Ciate Liquid Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks

ciate-liquid-velvet-matte-lipstick-oh-honey!-delight-pin-up-1
Last year I bought the Ciate Twelve Days of Christmas style calendar which had a range of mini versions of their makeup products. Three of them were these Liquid Velvet matte liquid lipsticks in the colours Oh Honey!, Delight and Pin Up. All three of them are in the permanent line and the full sized 6ml tubes are £17 each.
I have tried so many different formulas of matte liquid lipsticks I should probably stop buying them but I do love the look and some of the ones I have are favourites that I always go to when it comes to lip colour. Plus these colours are definitely very me they were some of the ones that I wanted to try when I chose to buy the set.

Review: Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow

stila-glitter-and-glow-liquid-eyeshadows-2

Today is part two of the Stila Liquid Eyeshadow posts, the second half of the Eyes for Elegance set I bought before Christmas. If you want to read about the three Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows you can find my post on them here.

The Glitter and Glows definitely fit their name, there is a lot of glitter in these and there seems to be different sizes within the glitter too so you get a more dramatic sparkly finish with these. They have been around for a bit longer but I can only find two of the colours I have in the US Stila store and one in the UK one so I’m not sure if the third was limited to this set. The three colours are; Peachy Sheen (light peach), Smouldering Satin (light taupe) and Next to Notte (deep red or burgundy). The set of minis, these are 2.25ml rather than 4.5ml, cost £45 but individually at full size they’re £23.

Review: Stila Shimmer and Glow in Kitten, Grace and Twig

Stila recently released a new product range in the Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows. They are similar to the Glitter and Glow which I have been seeing around a lot the past year but, instead of a glitter formula, they’re a shimmery eyeshadow. Before Christmas I bought a set for £45 that had three Shimmer and Glow and three Glitter and Glow, with each colour having a similar equivalent in the other finish. Today’s post is going to be about the three Shimmer and Glow, I’ll do a review of the Glitter and Glows later in the week.

As these were in the set they are minis, they’re half the size of the full release versions, as the standard size has 4.5ml and these have 2.25ml. The full sizes cost £23 so each of these is the equivalent of £11.50. The three colours I have are fairly neutral; Grace (rose taupe), Kitten (nude pink) and Twig (warm chestnut brown). I’ve tried them in a few different ways as they’re pretty versatile so it was fun to experiment and see how they worked.

Review: Kat Von D Bow N Arrow Gift Set

bownarrowheader.jpg

I’ve had my eye on Kat Von D’s makeup range for a while and it’s been in and out of my basket since appearing in Debenhams here in the UK but, as I can’t get to a store to see the colours and they’re a bit expensive to risk not liking them, I didn’t ever get any. That is until I saw this Kat Von D Bow N Arrow Gift Set on the website, it’s a set of two mini products with one being the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bow N Arrow and a mini Ink! Liner Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner pen in Trooper (black). With how long these types of product last me a minis are more than enough to try and I’ve read so many great things about both product types getting them for £14 seemed like a great way of trying them.

The two products are small, the liquid lipstick holds 3ml (0.1 fl oz) and is a browny nude colour and the liquid eyeliner holds 0.2ml (0.007 fl oz) so they’re a good size to try and I think there’s enough in here to last a while. I’ve worn the liquid lipstick quite a bit and there’s not even an obvious dent in the amount of product so it’s big enough for me.

Review: No7 Lovely Lashes Mascara

lovelylashesheader

Late last week I made an order for a couple of No7 mascaras, one of them being the Lovely Lashes mascara in brown/black (£13). I haven’t tried this one yet and wanted to give it a go, I’ve liked a lot of the No7 mascaras I’ve tried and like the brown/black colour as it’s a bit softer than the black but dark enough to still stand out more than a lighter brown.

This mascara claims glossy, natural volume with argan oil in the formula that helps to nourish and condition the lashes too so I was interested to see how it would turn out and if it would help improve the condition of my lashes. I tend to go for a more natural looking mascara so mascaras that add definition or length over volume but I’ve also found that a lot of the mascaras promising volume need a couple of coats to have a real boost of volume. I was more interested in the glossy finish and nourishing properties this formula is meant to have.

Review: Makeup Geek Havok Duochrome Eyeshadow

MUGduochromehavocheader

I recently made my first Beauty Bay order and, having read so many great reviews of their eyeshadow pans, I had to get at least one of the Makeup Geek eyeshadows. I fortunately most of the ones I wanted were out of stock but the Havok duochrome eyeshadow was available and, as it’s one of the main ones I wanted I got this. The colour is so pretty and one of the combinations I tend to think if as showing off duochrome the best as it has that almost petrol colours combination of brown and green.

I think it wasn’t long before I made the order that the Makeup Geek range seemed to get a price reduction in the Beauty Bay website so these individual duochrome eyeshadows cost £4.95 each. I think the rest of the range with the different finishes is also this price. They aren’t the cheapest eyeshadows out there and I tend to go for palettes over individual pans but it’s such a pretty colour I thought it’d be a great one as a first eyeshadow from the company.

Decluttering Part One: Eyeliners

decluttereyelinersheader

I said I was going to declutter and I finally managed to collect everything together and go through it all, some had mysteriously moved to my computer drawer at some point, so I’m going to start on my decluttering posts. I will be posting links to any reviews I’ve already done so you can see better swatches and things and there are some things that I do still like but it was just their time to go.

Today the whole post is eyeliners, some of these posts will probably have a few categories in as I don’t have much of some things, and it has both pencils and liquid, though I only have the one liquid liner I’m getting rid of. I don’t wear eyeliner much apart from bonzes and golds but I seem to keep thinking that I will and so buy them anyway. I am quite happy to say that the majority of these eyeliners were in free gifts like those spend X and get this bag of makeup free type offers so I don’t feel too bad getting rid of them.

Review: Models Own All About Eyes Eyeliner Set

Sorry this is a bit later than I meant it to be guys. I had problems with the website not loading the pictures in the right places but it seems to be working now, I’m crossing my fingers it is anyway!

allabouteyesheader

In a recent online shopping trip on the TK Maxx website I found a set of Models Own eyeliners for £7.99. They’re still available on the Models Own website at £20 so there’s a saving of £12.

I have had a brown eyeliner on my to buy list when I went to use my old one and found it was less a pencil more of a stub that’s hard to use and I do like a brown eyeliner pencil. I’m also wanting to try some Colouring eyeliners, I’ve always loved the look but not wanted to spend money on the eyeliners in case I don’t like them. As this set has eight pencil eyeliners in it, including a brown, gold and white which I will use, it was like getting those free compared to the individual price of most eyeliners I like.
