Review: Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Smudge Out Mascara

tony-moly-panda's-dream-smudge-out-mascara-4.jpg

I have so many mascaras in my stash I’m slowly working my way through trying them and seeing which I prefer so the next on the list is the Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Smudge Out Mascara. I will admit that the thing that caught my eye with this is the packaging. I love how cute the Tony Moly products are and the Panda shaped mascara wand on this one just stood out to me. I’ve also found that their makeup works really well for me. The Smudge Out name on this mascara did surprise me, most English speaking countries would choose anti-smudge or something like that, but it basically means it won’t smudge, or shouldn’t anyway.

I found this mascara on the TK Maxx website a while ago, though I haven’t seen it since, and I can’t remember how much I spent on it but I want to say around the £5 mark. I think the best place to find it if you’re in the UK is eBay at the moment.

Review: Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

eyeko-black-magic-mascara-2

Mascara is not something I am low on at the moment, especially black mascara, so I’m going through the ones I have and trying them all to see which to keep and which to get rid of. Most of these are sample sizes and this Eyeko Black Magic Mascara is what I’d call a travel size at 4ml so useful for a handbag and big enough to get quite a few uses from. It came in the Marks and Spencer beauty advent calendar last year and you can see my first impressions post here. I’ve not tried much from Eyeko but I’m a fan of their liquid eyeliner pen so I was looking forward to seeing how this mascara compared.

One thing I’ve noticed about this when looking for it online is that there seem to be different brush versions. Some may be bad photographs when showing the shape but they’re available in a skinny and normal brush, both the same price. The full 8ml tube is £16 on QVC UK or £19 from the Marks and Spencer’s website, which seems to be the standard price. It claims to be waterproof and add drama and curl and the standard wand has a curved shape that’s supposed to match the shape of your lashes, which I think is a nice touch but does mean you can only really use it one way.

Review: Sleek Makeup Liquid Eyeliners in Matte Black and Gold Glitter

sleek-liquid-eyeliner-black-gold-1

These are technically two different products but I thought, as they’re both Sleek Makeup liquid eyeliners, they do sort of go together. The first liquid eyeliner is the Sleek Makeup Dip It Eyeliner in Black and the second is the Sleek Makeup Glitter Eyeliner in Gold. I have to admit that I don’t use liquid eyeliner much, or at all really, but that’s partly because I’ve found it very hard to find one that has a brush or applicator that I really like alongside a good formula. I used to love an Avon one I had years ago but haven’t found one since.

Both eyeliners are liquid and have a brush in the lid and both hold 4ml of product. I can’t find the Gold Glitter Eyeliner anywhere at the moment, though the Steel version is £4.99 so I’m guessing that would have been the price for this one too. The Black Dip It Liquid Eyeliner is available in Boots and the Sleek website for £4.99. There are two versions on the Sleek website, I think this is the newer packaging and I don’t think the formula has changed from the rounder pots.  Continue reading

Review: Sleek Makeup i-Divine Diamond Decade Eyeshadow Palette

sleek-i-divine-diamond-decape-palette-1Last year Sleek Makeup celebrated their tenth birthday and released their Diamond Decade i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette with a mix of silvers, blacks and pinks. They say that the pink is their signature but, for me, when I think of the old Sleek palettes back when I first started buying them the matte black is the thing that stood out for me as being above the competition. It wasn’t always the best but I have a couple of the early palettes where the black is better than any others I’ve tried so I was happy to see a matte black included. You can find it on the Boots and Sleek websites for £8.99.

There are twelve eyeshadows in this and there’s a mix of finishes with two that I would call true matte, one that’s almost matte but has a duochrome hint to it and eight that are shimmers of various descriptions (though one is a matte base with glitter in really). The palette sort of has three sections of colour with four pinks, four silvers and four blacks, though one of the silvers is more gunmetal. It’s definitely an unusual mix of colours to me and not one I’d really go for normally.

Review: Unicorn Cosmetics Heat Sensitive and Spookalicious Halloween Brush Set

unicorn-cosmetics-spooky-brushes-1

I love all the unicorn brushes around and have had my eye on the Unicorn Cosmetics unicorn brush set for months, but when I saw their Halloween edition Heat Sensitive and Spookalicious set was in the sale it’s even more me and I wanted it. It’s a limited edition set with five brushes (three face and two eye brushes), colour changing handles and a coffin shaped brush bag with unicorn studs on it. It’s also pretty much half price, £17.99 rather than £34.99, but being a limited edition it’s one of those sets you get now if you want it as when it’s gone it’s gone.

The fact that the set is half the size of the original unicorn brush sets definitely was a plus for me, I love the look of the full set but I’m not sure I’d need all ten different styles and I can always use eye brushes and your standard face brushes. The five brushes are; fluffy eye brush, precision blush brush, powder brush, foundation brush and an eyeshadow brush so you do have most of the basics covered there. They all have suitably spooky names to go with the orange and black colour scheme.

Blogmas Day 15!

Today I got one of the sweeter wax tarts, I do love gingerbread around this time of year and, although I’m not normally a fan of bakery scents gingerbread is one that I quite enjoy sometimes. It’s the Warm Gingerbread wax tart from the Scented Seasons Shop Twelve Scents of Christmas set from Etsy and I’m just picking them out at random to make my own kind of advent calendar. The full set costs £15 for the twelve or you can choose the scents individually for £1.25.

I haven’t had much makeup this year in the Marks and Spencer’s beauty advent calendar and today we got some more, though it’s a second mascara in the form of the Diego Dalla Palma Ciglione Mascara. To be honest I’d prefer a bit more variety and to have got something else Makeup today rather than a second mascara but it’s not one I’ve tried before. It seems to be one of those mascaras claiming to do everything, it says it’s a 5-in-1, so it’ll be interesting to try. This is a full sized product and these are worth £17.50 so it’ll be interesting to see if it works better than my standard mascara given that it’s more expensive.

Blogmas 2017: Day 8!

Today’s gift in the Marks and Spencer’s beauty advent calendar is a travel sized version of the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara. I can’t remember if I’ve tried this one before, I know the liquid eyeliner pen was in last year’s and I liked that, it seemed good quality so I’m happy to have more from them, even if I do already have so many black mascaras. The full sized tube is 8ml for £19, this tube is 4ml so it’s got about £9.50 of product and these travel sized mascaras always last ages for me. I’ve tended to find that I end up throwing them out because the time is up on keeping mascara or they’ve dried out rather than running out of product.

I can’t believe it’s a week into December, or over a week in, and we haven’t got our Christmas tree up yet. I’m not opening one of the wax tarts today because I still haven’t burnt the one from a couple of days ago so it’ll be tomorrow for the next one. I’ll probably end up having three or four of them nearer to Christmas. I think this is going to be the latest post for blogmas, sorry it’s so late! A mix of poor internet and trying to get things done I was going to do yesterday alongside today’s things to do meant everything didn’t go to plan today! Also, wow WordPress on the iPad has changed, this may take ting used to. I may have accidentally pressed publish before I’d finished this post just now, oops!

Review: Kat Von D Bow N Arrow Gift Set

bownarrowheader.jpg

I’ve had my eye on Kat Von D’s makeup range for a while and it’s been in and out of my basket since appearing in Debenhams here in the UK but, as I can’t get to a store to see the colours and they’re a bit expensive to risk not liking them, I didn’t ever get any. That is until I saw this Kat Von D Bow N Arrow Gift Set on the website, it’s a set of two mini products with one being the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bow N Arrow and a mini Ink! Liner Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner pen in Trooper (black). With how long these types of product last me a minis are more than enough to try and I’ve read so many great things about both product types getting them for £14 seemed like a great way of trying them.

The two products are small, the liquid lipstick holds 3ml (0.1 fl oz) and is a browny nude colour and the liquid eyeliner holds 0.2ml (0.007 fl oz) so they’re a good size to try and I think there’s enough in here to last a while. I’ve worn the liquid lipstick quite a bit and there’s not even an obvious dent in the amount of product so it’s big enough for me.

Summer Haul: Asda and Tesco

With the recent heat wave here in the UK I wanted to get a new bikini for in the paddling pool in the garden. My old one is still doing ok but it’s ten years old so it felt like time for a new one! I may have ended up getting more than originally planned when I actually wandered around Tesco and Asda, we went to both because the fridge broke down in Tesco and some of the groceries we actually went shopping for weren’t available.

I ended up with shampoo, conditioner, a mini perfume spray and a bag alongside the bikini and dress I set out to get. None of it was overly expensive, it came to around £70 altogether. It sometimes find that’s one of the problems with shopping for these things in supermarkets; things are such great value that my trolley ends up much fuller than planned!

Review: No7 Lovely Lashes Mascara

lovelylashesheader

Late last week I made an order for a couple of No7 mascaras, one of them being the Lovely Lashes mascara in brown/black (£13). I haven’t tried this one yet and wanted to give it a go, I’ve liked a lot of the No7 mascaras I’ve tried and like the brown/black colour as it’s a bit softer than the black but dark enough to still stand out more than a lighter brown.

This mascara claims glossy, natural volume with argan oil in the formula that helps to nourish and condition the lashes too so I was interested to see how it would turn out and if it would help improve the condition of my lashes. I tend to go for a more natural looking mascara so mascaras that add definition or length over volume but I’ve also found that a lot of the mascaras promising volume need a couple of coats to have a real boost of volume. I was more interested in the glossy finish and nourishing properties this formula is meant to have.
