Review: The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter title image. Behind the text is a photo of the tin open showing the product, with the lid next to it

I’ve been trying The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter for a while to see if, and how, it worked for me. I saw a lot of posts about this range when it was first released but not seen much since. It’s designed for sensitive skin and is a cleansing balm. I haven’t had the best luck with cleansing balms but I wanted to give this a go as it’s specifically for sensitive skin. As with all products from the Body Shop it’s cruelty free.

This is a fair sized tin, it contains 90ml, and is a lot flatter and wider than most of my skin care products. This costs £10 but the tin lasts ages, a little does go a long way and I can see this lasting beyond the twelve months it says it has for using it up, for me anyway. My skin is sensitive, acne prone and dry or combination and it isn’t normally a fan of cleansing balms but I was interested so thought I’d give it a go.

My First Empties of 2019, There’s Quite a Few Here!

My First Empties of 2019 title image. Behind the text is a photo of a lot of empty bottles and jars in a rose gold basket

I’ve always meant to do empties posts, I just tend to find that I go for ages without having any and then within a week everything I use regularly is finished. I love reading or watching them when other people do them as it shows what you actually use and like rather than a review of something you’ve been using for a few weeks or days.

As I’ve been organising my wardrobe, I’m only part way at the moment, I’ve ended up getting all the random stuff that got thrown into this basket I got for empties so now it can finally be used as I wanted it to be. I didn’t plan on it being overflowing before I did my first post though! I’ll try to keep them shorter, maybe after every ten empties, I didn’t realise how much was in there until I emptied it earlier! As there are so many I’ll try to keep them short and I’ll link to any I’ve done reviews on so you can see more about them.

Review: Unicorn Cosmetics The Class of ’86 Eye Stationery Brush Set

Unicorn Cosmetics Class of 86 Eye Makeup Brush Set title image. Behind the text is a photo of the brushes and the pencil case that they come in

I always used to think that the unicorn themed brushes were a bit of a gimmick but then I bought the heat sensitive spooky set from Unicorn Cosmetics and I was converted. I’ve had my eye on some of their sets before but as I mainly do eye looks and don’t use that many brushes for other things there would always be ones I didn’t want. Then I found the Class of ’86 Brush Set that has seven eye makeup brushes in it for different things and I had to have it.

I got this in the sale but at full price on their website it costs £24.99, which isn’t a bad price when you think of how many brushes you get. It comes out at under £4 a brush and you get a little pencil case style bag with it which is so pretty and definitely reminds me of Saved by the Bell. I’m so tempted to keep pencils in it and have it out on my desk.

After Christmas Shopping and Sales Haul

After Christmas Sales SHopping Haul title image. Behind the text is a photo of different products bought after the sales

Last week was a bit of an odd week, I started out with one of the bugs going around and ended up with sinusitis so sorry for a lack of posts last week. I’m hoping the antibiotics will kick in and everything will go back to normal this week as I actually have the next four weeks worth of posts planned and some of them photographed. Starting to feel organised finally! And with the final deliveries from my post Christmas orders arriving last week I thought it was time to do a post on everything I got.

I think it’s about a month from my first order but some of them took a while to get here and I thought I’d put everything in one big post. It’s a big mix of everything from home and beauty to nerdy figures and some are full price but I wanted to get them with Christmas money from relatives. If anything is still available I’ll put a link to it and I’m pretty sure that most of these will be getting their own review posts so if there’s anything in here you want to see first then please comment and I’ll move them up the list.

Review: Nails Inc Green Fingers Vegan Nail Varnish

Nails Inc. Green Fingers Nail Varnishes title image. Behind the text is a picture of two nail varnish bottles, one dark red and the other pale pink

In the Holland and Barrett advent calendar there were two of the Nails Inc Green Fingers Bio-Sourced nail varnishes, one in a deep red, called Pressed Juniper, and another in pale pink, called Thistle Fade. I think this is a new range, or maybe I’ve just missed out on it in the past, and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and uses plant based proteins to improve the quality of your nails. At least that’s the plan anyway.

These are the same size as the old standard Nails Inc nail varnishes, with each bottle holding 10ml, though the new square Nails Inc bottles hold 14ml. They cost £11 each so cheaper than the £15 of their standard range with 4ml less in each bottle. They’re also available in a range of colours, though it’s not great and is mainly pastels there are a few different nude and pale pink colours.

Review: Salt of the Earth Pure Aura Deodorant

I have been a fan of natural deodorants for the past couple of years, they just seem to get on better with my skin and they seem to work for me. However, I have recently found that I’ve had to reapply the ones I was using, so when I got the spray version of the Pure Aura deodorant from Salt of the Earth I was definitely interested in trying it out. As you may be able to tell by the fact I went and bought the roll on version I was definitely a fan.

The roll on of the Pure Aura Melon and Cucumber scented deodorant holds 75ml and costs £5.49. The full sized spray is £5.99 for 100ml so is a bit more cost effective but I’d say that price difference is for the container rather than the deodorant itself so it’s purely a case of which kind you prefer. I got a half sized spray from the Holland and Barrett advent calendar last year.

2019 Goals

The blog post header with 2019 Goals. Behind it is an image of a diaryI feel like this post is a couple of weeks late now but I’ve kind of been putting it off as I know my blogging goals at the beginning of last year are so far off what I actually did that it’s not the most positive thing to look back on for last year. I’ve been trying to work on things and plan ahead and needed a break from blogging, partly planned at the beginning but then I got ill so less planned but definitely needed.

I tend to make goals posts for my blog and update and change them as I go throughout the year as I see goals as a flexible thing, something that you can change as the circumstances change, and check things off as you go along and add new ones. I tended to find that whenever I set new years resolutions they seem to fail pretty early but goals with definite updates throughout the year work better for me.

Blogmas 2018, Day 24: Christmas Eve!

The Blogmas title with a photo of a ‘Night Before Christmas’ moose candle holderIt’s Christmas Eve! I can’t believe it’s Christmas Day tomorrow, not sure why but maybe it’s not cold enough or something but I haven’t been feeling as Christmassy today as I have before. The two advent calendars are kind of duplicates of previous days, the BB Cream in the Holland and Barrett beauty calendar is one I’m happy about though. The Harry Potter one less so, though it’s a different figure there are multiples of this character already.

Blogmas Day 22 & 23: 2 Days in 1!

The Blogmas title image. It is split in two with two Christmas Costa coffee paper cups, one on each sideI didn’t manage to write a proper advent calendar Blogmas post yesterday but I did post something so I’m counting that! For some reason today I’ve felt like it’s Christmas Eve all day, I’m already getting too excited for Christmas! Also today was a fun day until my phone screen pretty much shattered, though stayed in place, so it’s all taped up and I’m crossing my fingers it’ll last till February, or maybe longer, before I need to get a new phone as my contract will definitely go up as I’m sim only at the moment and I need to save everything I can in January!

Anyway, onto the advent calendars. And the Harry Potter figures are so appropriate together and I’ve really been looking forward to the day I got the creature that came in today’s window so I’m so happy with these two. I kind of wish one of them could have been on Christmas Eve as I have a feeling I know what’s coming and it’s not as exciting. The Holland and Barrett beauty goodies were so good too. It’s got to the point where I’ve forgotten what was even meant to be in here so they’re all surprises again. Another essential oil and some deodorant may not sound that interesting but I think the deodorant may become a favourite from the calendar. Is that weird?
