I haven’t really been to many Christmas markets, probably only two before this one, but there was a Christmas market fair turning on the lights thing today in the local town so we went and had a wander round. I did end up buying some food, everything always looks so good I could ave bought way more, and I kind of wish I’d bought some of the tombola tickets, but it a definitely worth a wander round for an hour or so.
Do any of you go to Christmas fairs or markets? I tend to find with bigger ones you have so many stalls with exactly the same things being sold but this one was local companies, mainly food, with a few handmade crafts and drink stalls. Wasn’t the most Christmassy weather to wander round in but it was fun and getting there early, quite a bit before thee lights were turned on, was a good idea. Will definitely be going back next year if we’re around and they do it.
I’ve been working on decluttering for the past couple of
months, I’ve actually been pretty good and my cupboards look so much tidier. I’ve
been sorting out my makeup recently and realised how much of the stuff I was
keeping is just not me at all, or at least not any more. I’ve actually counted
up how many things are in this declutter post and there’s fifty three pieces of
makeup or accessories that are going! I didn’t realise I had that much!
I did start this off with a little review of each of them,
but when you have fifty three to get through it would be so long, so instead I’m
just going to link to any that I’ve already reviewed on here and say why I’m
getting rid of them. I have to say there are a few that I never thought I’d declutter
but they’re so old that if I did decide to reach for them I don’t think they’d
do me any good. I have a new rule; if it smells like wax crayons, get rid of
I did have another post planned but as the Marks and Spencer’s Summer Beauty Boxarrived in the post today I couldn’t wait to do a post on the products in it. Similar to their beauty advent calendar these boxes have a much higher value than this price, this one is around £135 of products they say on the site, but you have to spend £40 in Marks and Spencer’s to get it for the discounted price of £15. Since I wanted curtains from there anyway I just added this to the basket as it’s such a bargain and there are a few products in here I was planning on getting anyway.
There’s quite a good range of different products in the box. Some are full sized and others are travel sized or deluxe samples but they cover the spectrum of beauty pretty well. There’s a couple of makeup bits with mascara and liquid lipstick, some summer products like after sun and SPF lip balms and quite a few hair and body products. It’s actually pretty evenly spread out and a great way to try some of these brands as the full sized products of some would cost more than the box and any that aren’t full sized are still a decent sample size.
I’m never sure whether to class makeup primers as makeup or skin care, it’s sort of the step between the two, but it seems like this primer is also a moisturiser which is great if you have dry skin. The Autograph Hydrating Confidence Boost Primer is today’s gift from the Marks and Spencer’s beauty advent calendar so now you pretty much have the whole routine for pre makeup prep in mini sizes from this calendar. The full sized 30ml tube is £12.50 meaning this 15ml mini one is worth £6.75, so sort of mid range when it comes to price, and it’s cruelty free and vegan and vegetarian friendly.
It’s been a bit of a long project, or rather it’s been an on and off project, since I got the drawers for in my wardrobe to store my beauty things but it’s finally finished and I have my makeup drawer all organised. I’ve been thinking of doing a bit of a post on what I have and how I store it but not sure if anyone would be interested. It’s definitely not a big collection, it all fits in the one drawer, after my various destashing sessions throughout the year and probably half of it is eyeshadow palettes so not a huge variety in there either. Would anyone be interested in that?
The first day of December so the first day of advent. I do love advent calendars, we’ve had them since we were little with chocolate ones, and this year my main advent calendar is the Marks and Spencer’s one. I say main as I do have a Thornton’s chocolate one and a couple of twelve days of Christmas ones, I’m probably going to actually do the one on the twelve days though so I’ll have at least one post every day in December, this may be a first for me!
Anyway, onto the gift from today’s box, I do love it when advent calendars do these individual boxes, I have used them a few times for wrapping up Christmas presents that are small enough and they are great at disguising oddly shaped presents too. The gift today is from the Rosie for Autograph collection, so it is an exclusive product to Marks and Spencer’s, and it’s the Amazing Radiance Body Glow (50ml tube). It’s not the full sized tube but it’s a good size for travel and it’s a shimmery body lotion that has a golden tint to it. Continue reading “Advent 2017: Day 1”→
I seem to have been buying things recently, I do have a bit of a TK Maxx haul coming up that’s been building up for a few months so it’ll be a pretty big one and deserves its own post, I just haven’t been posting my recent purchases. I’ve found that posting then actually helps me to keep my spending down so I’m back to posting them more.
We recently found an out of city shopping centre that has some great shops in it, mainly TK Maxx and Marks & Spencer were the ones we’ve been to as I didn’t need clothes and most of the others would probably end up with me spending even more! Today’s post is the few things I got from M&S as well as their nail varnishes I bought in Sally’s on the same trip.
There’s a bit of a colour match today with the Marks and Spencer Beauty advent calendar and the Ciate Mini Mani Month with the rose gold. I do love this colour so very happy that there are so many products using it this year as a large part of packaging or themes. Today was the day I was least excited about with the Ciate one as it’s the nail file day, it will get used but it’s always disappointing in these kinds of calendars. The Marks and Spencer beauty calendar has a Lip Glossy from the Rosie for Autograph range in Super Model smile, a nice pinky colour that’s fairly neutral and I think would work for most skin tones as it just adds a hint of a darker colour to your own lips. The Yankee Candle is another Cosy By the Fire tea candle today, another one that’s been growing on me as I use it and it’s a great one for a Christmassy feel. Continue reading “Advent 2016: Day 15”→
I just realised this is day nine, it’s over a week into December and just over two weeks till Christmas. I feel a bit underprepared, I started well with gift buying but it sort of went downhill when I had half of the presents and thought I had plenty of time. Do any of you guys find this happens to you too?
Today’s advent has two nail varnishes! I knew it would happen some time because of the products in the Marks and Spencer one and I can never have too many nail varnishes, especially when it comes to purples and berry colours. The Marks and Spencer nail varnish is an exclusive to their store as it’s an Autograph product, one of their lines, in Cranberry. Ciate has another clear one, this time in a nail treatment called Status Grow (I do like the name). The Yankee Candle this time is Snowflake Cookie, not my favourite but it does mix well with others. I did a mini review of this Autograph Ultra Shine Twist-Up Lip Colour when I first got it in the Marks and Spencer advent calendar but I’ve been using it for a few months and have had a better chance to really try it out. I haven’t seen much on these lip colours from Marks and Spencer which has surprised me when this one has definitely impressed me a lot. These cost £9.50 each though they seem to have changed the name as I am 90% sure that this Ultra Shine is the same as the Ultimate Shine one that is on the website here as it includes the colour Nude and has exactly the same packaging.
As this is a Marks and Spencer product it is cruelty free, this one carries the leaping bunny logo and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. They have a fairly good range of colours with neutrals, reds, berries and a pink but there isn’t a huge number of different shades. I can’t find anywhere that gives an actual value to the amount of product in these but I have taken a couple of photos next to a Soap and Glory one that says it has 1.5g to give an idea of the amount of product you get.
The M&S present today is another makeup thing, I’m surprised at how few makeup products there have been so far in this calendar really. It’s the Autograph Ultra Shine Twist-Up Lip Colour in the shade Nude which is a nice neutral. I think this is one of the only M&S brand product there have been, I think there may have been the shampoo which had a Marks and Spencer address on the back but as far as I can remember that’s it, the rest have been brands you can buy elsewhere too. I have heard a lot about M&S makeup so interested to see how it works. The Yankee Candle tea light is another Angel’s Wings which is a great scent for me as it’s one that isn’t specifically Christmas so I’m keeping these and burning others before them so I can have these the rest of the year.
