Blogmas 2018: Day 5!

An image of an artificial Christmas tree with gold and maroon baubles on and some Harry Potter Decorations.Today was not the best day, I did manage to get things done but only about half of the things on my list of ‘to do’s and that may have been overdoing it as I ended up having to lie down with a cold towel on my head. I’m really hoping I’m not going to be ill, perfect timing in the plead up to Christmas. At least I’ve got pretty much all of my Christmas shopping done and may be starting to wrap presents tomorrow, I don’t have the room for the things in my wardrobe and then I don’t have to hide them any more.

I have to say that I am very excited about both of the gifts in the advent calendars today. The Funko Pocket Pop is one I’ve had my eye on in the full size but it seemed to be sold out when I went to get it. The Holland and Barrett beauty calendar had a face mask in and I do love a good face mask, plus my skin could really do with some TLC as it’s been playing up recently. The tea was surprisingly good too, it wasn’t one I was looking forward to but I did enjoy it.

Blogmas 2018: Day 1!

The Blogmas Day 1 header image. It shows the title in a box in the centre with a photo of white branches decorated with fairy lights behindI can’t believe it’s already December! We’ve started our advent calendars, the first lot of decorations have been put up and it’s finally feeling properly Christmassy even if the weather isn’t. This yea I’m going to do the daily advent calendar opening like I have the past few years but I’ve also found a list of 25 questions that I’m going to answer each day. It’s from Pinterest so I can’t save the picture and the site keeps saying it doesn’t exist but it’s from peanutbutterJenny.com and apparently from 2012 so it’s not new, I’ll have to make a new graphic to show the questions and add it in here some time.

Anyway, the advent calendars I’ll be posting about are the Holland and Barrett 25 Days of Cleaner Beauty and the Harry Potter Funko Pop one. I do have the Holland and Barrett Organic Herbal Tea one and I’ll review those if I’ve actually drunk it when I post but might not do that one every day. If you want to find out what was behind door number 1 on each of them then keep reading!

Review: Lush Cinders Limited Edition Christmas Shower Gel

I recently got a bottle of the Cinders Shower Gel from the Lush limited edition Christmas range. It’s a more creamy formula that’s supposed to be moisturising and skin softening with maple syrup in it and the scent is described as Brazilian orange oil, ginger, nutmeg and allspice powders. This sounded like a great mix to me with a hint of the spices I like in winter products.

As with their other shower gels this is available in three sizes; 110g (£5.50), 260g (£10.95) and 520g (£18.25). It’s a self preserving formula, which I have found tends to make them good ones to keep if you like the scent. I was half expecting this to be like the shower creams that Lush released, which were a nice thick consistency to start with but turned to water after two uses, so had to give them a proper try and use them a lot to see how well they kept. So far it’s been good but it’s only been a month so I can’t comment on the long term stashability of them yet.

The Body Shop Haul: Some New Products and Christmas Gift Sets

the-body-shop-christmas-new-products-haul-4.jpg

It feels so early but a lot of stores are releasing their Christmas products. As I was planning on trying a few of the Body Shop’s new products I saw these two sets and wanted to give the new Christmas scents a try. This year they’re releasing a range of products in Berry Bon Bon (mixed berry sweets), Peppermint Candy Cane (sweet mint) and Vanilla Marshmallow (sweet vanilla, which didn’t appeal to me) and these sacks looked like they’d give a nice range of product types to try as well as meaning I now have some great travel sized products. I was quite good and resisted the advent calendars, for now anyway. I really want the £45 one but I would probably end up with too many advent calendars and no money if I got all the ones I want this year!

Some of the other products I chose are ones I’ve either wanted to try for a while or have just found out about and couldn’t resist. I’ve sort of fallen in and out of love with the Body Shop products over the years as they can be a bit of a single note scent and them being owned by L’Oreal, but their ginger shampoo is amazing and I’m always drawn in by the Christmas scents so I wanted to try them early this year rather than leaving it to the sales and missing out because I don’t know what they smell like.

Looking Back at 2017

I feel I should start this post with a bit of an apology for the lack of posts the past week. I planned on doing daily posts for the Twelve Days of Christmas Ciate Calendar but it felt a bit forced and they’d be so short but I’m going to be doing them on my Instagram for the rest of the twelve days if you’re interested and then a final post on everything as a round up. Christmas always takes up more energy than I think it will so there’s been a lot of resting and a trip out to the Lush sales, the haul will be coming soon.

Everyone seems to be looking back at the highlights of 2017 and it got me thinking about the year. I have to say it definitely wasn’t the best year, a couple of the things that happened weren’t great at the time but did have positive longer term effects and I think I’ve ended 2017 more motivated than I started the year. I think that probably happens for everyone every year so maybe it’s me remembering differently.

So let’s begin the look back at 2017. I feel like there should be some wobbly effect on the screen and some kind of music like in TV series saying that.
