I may have ended up spending more than I originally planned in the Lush Boxing Day Sale. I only went into be one day but I’d originally planned on getting the 12 Days of Christmas gift box and decided against it when I saw it. I ended up regretting that decision and as my mum.and sister were going in the next day asked them to get it so here’s everything that came in that gift set.
The Twelve Days of Christmas hat box is always one of the big ones from Lush, they bring out a version every year, as it has twelve of their Christmas products in it. I think it was £35 in the half price sale and was one that there were quite a few left of so there may be some in some of the lush stores. This year it has a wide range of different product types as well as scents so could be a good introduction to Lush if it’s in your budget.
As some of these things may be still available in your local Lush I thought I’d do a bit of a mini review of each of them in case you manage to find any to pick up. They also sometimes seem to pop up in the kitchen throughout the year do if there’s something you’re interested in it may return at some point. Don’t quote me on that, I don’t know what’s coming or how Lush decides what’s going up, it’s just going by past experience.
I thought, as I’ve been away for a few weeks, I’d start blogging again with a bit of a catch up. I haven’t really done that much of an update on my goals, my planned no buy September and what I’m doing with the blog coming up. I’ve actually found that the few weeks off, though the reason for the break wasn’t great, has actually helped me clear my head and get more focussed on what I’m going to do with my blog, or want to anyway.
I did get a bit stuck in a rut, despite posting about trying to get out of it before, and did find myself wondering whether I should keep blogging before all of this happened as you look around and see newer blogs doing better with views and likes and things and getting more companies working with them and it did sort of sit there in the back of my mind. However, having had the break, I’m really looking forward to blogging more and have ideas as well as all the things I had planned on posting the past few weeks.
I’ve had this hair serum for a while and it’s become one of my everyday hair products. I originally got it in the boxing day one penny sale on the Holland and Barrett website which is essentially buy one get one free but you buy one product in the offer and get another for 1p. This came as part of a set with a shampoo and conditioner and was the 1p item I chose, though I did get the set mainly for this one product. This hair serum is available as a product on its own and costs £14.99 for the 100ml bottle, the same size as this one, so I’d recommend getting it by itself unless you can get the set in a similar sale to the one I did.
Dr Organic is a cruelty free company that makes skin care and hair care products and is sold exclusively at Holland and Barrett, in the UK anyway. This Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Treatment Serumis supposed to reduce frizz, soften, restore and nourish hair and is used after washing your hair and towel drying it so it protects your hair as it dries. It can also be used on dry hair, just not as much, to protect your hair and reduce frizz, though I haven’t tried it yet.
I recently had a sort out of my clothes and things and made a check list, I find it’s a great way to make sure you don’t get too distracted when shopping and it means you actually leave with what you went in for (rather than ten new nail varnishes and some tops when you go in for jeans, happens way too often for me). Last week I may have ended up spending more than I meant to when I realised that 90% of the things on my wish list were in TK Maxx and H&M which I was on for other things so this week will probably turn into a bit of a haul week. I was planning on doing them all together but then I realised exactly how much will be arriving from TK Maxx and that one alone may need to be a two parter. So, sorry if you’re not a fan of haul posts.
Today’s haul is from H&M and not all that big. My original thing to get from H&M was bras, for some reason no matter how many makes I try the ones from H&M are the only ones that fit me comfortably and unfortunately the H&Ms near me have a very small range available so it’s online I go. I did end up adding a few extras in here, as well as the T-shirts that I needed, because I have never seen any of the beauty products in the stores near me and wanted to give them a go. I did manage to limit myself to things I actually use or need to replace anyway so I don’t feel too bad.
Is it just me or does anyone else’s computer, or technology at least, seem to break down at the same time each year? Last year I had to wipe it and redo it all and this year the WiFi has given up on me. I can try using the Ethernet cable but it’s hard to get at and I think it’s the internet receiver in general that’s gone so it may have to go and get fixed.
My advent posts are all on the iPad, which is also on its last legs, so it’s not affecting them but I’ll have to see what I do about the longer ones I had planned for after Christmas.
Why is but always around Christmas? Will probably wait till January to get it fixed as there’s so much going on at the moment but just wanted to post a bit of an update because I felt so much in my laptop for these blog posts normally.
When I saw that Funko was doing a Doctor Who collection I wanted all of them, maybe I’ll get the rest later but as 10 is my favourite of the ones on the first wave he seemed like a good place to start. The prices for the Tenth Doctor figure seem to range from £8.99 to around £12 depending on where you find them but they seem to be available in most places I’ve found that sell Funkos as it’s still a recent range.
This figure is the Tenth Doctor figure based on the character played by David Tennant and is part of the Funk Pop Television range. I like the range available in this collection but I think it would have been nice to have the Ninth Doctor rather than the Fourth Doctor in there simply to have all the reboot ones in the first wave, though I do understand that Four played by Tom Baker is probably the most well known of the original series.
ISBN Number: Pre-dates ISBN numbers, later versions will have them but there are so many I can’t list them all
I have always loved watching Agatha Christie books that have been turned into TV shows or movies, especially the David Suchet Poirots, but I have never seemed to get on with reading her books. I don’t know if it was that I picked bad ones to try as a first by her or there was another reason but I’ve tried a few times to read them and given up part way through. This summer I decided to read some of the ones we have in our bookshelf and, as I know this story well though I couldn’t remember who did it to start with, I thought it was a good place to start as I knew I enjoyed the story and knew Poirot as a character. It is hard to read these without imagining David Suchet’s Poirot speaking in my head and walking around the boat.
This copy of the book pre-dates the ISBN system but it’s been published so many times in a lot of languages so I think you should be able to find it somewhere near you in a second hand book shop or online, I’ve found this exact copy for around £4 despite being the first print of the first penguin release, so they’re around and cheap if you want to pick it up or your library should be able to get it I’d expect, it may depend on how popular she is as an author in your country.
Last week I bought a game on Steam, Reigns, which has become a bit like solitaire or those kinds of games where you dip in and out and play a bit every do often while other things are loading or you’re waiting for something on the computer and then you realise it’s been half an hour. It’s one of those ‘just one more try’ games. I found it because the Yogscast did a video on it, I’m sure there are others who have done them as well so YouTube is probably your friend when it comes to seeing actual gameplay, as well as the Steam page and the Devolver Digital page for it (they’re the game devs) but I’m doing a review of the game and the extras you get in the Collectors edition. I decided to get this one as it wasn’t much extra and I’m a sucker for art books and similar and this comes with a digital book and the soundtrack, but more about that later.
The game by itself is also available as a mobile game, I found it on the Apple App Store for £2.29, which is actually more than the original is on Steam which surprised me but I’m not sure how much it costs on android. As I don’t have this version I can’t do a comparison but I think it’s the same game, it seems the kind that doesn’t need changes to become a mobile game. On Steam the PC version is £1.99 and the bundle I bought is £4.36 and includes the game, the OST, an interactive OST and a companion book. These are all available separately for 79p each or a bundle of £2.37, there isn’t a discount for getting it all in one go for this game. If you’re a mac user, good news, this is a mac compatible game. It’s also compatible with controllers, though I’m not sure they’d be a big advantage on this one.
I don’t normally do this as I tend to keep spoonie things separate to the rest of my blog but I thought I’d tag it with that as I think this is a fairly spoonie friendly game that has a bit more to it than some and I’m always on the look out for good games that don’t need so much energy to enjoy.
I’m not sure it’s possible to have spoilers for this game but if you want to avoid any mention of events or possible ways to die then I’d not read on, not that the ones I’m saying about effect the gameplay and there’s not really a storyline as such.
Also, if you’re reading this because you’re looking for how to find the DLC when you’ve already downloaded it I have included that further down. It’s in bold so keep scrolling until you see it. Hope it’s helpful!
For years I’ve been using Simple face wipes s they’re great for removing makeup, especially on lower energy days, and they’re quite refreshing on hot days as a bit of a pick me up in the middle of the day. Recently I bought some different ones as I know I should exfoliate more and there are the Kind to Skin Exfoliating Facial Wipes. These look like standard facial wipes but have a more exfoliating side and a smoother side.
They cost £3.49 from Boots and have 25 wipes in the pack. At the moment they’re in the 3 for £5 offer in Boots so you actually get three for less than the price of two, it’s worth looking at other Simple products there at the moment as well.
Isn’t it great when your computer has managed to avoid updating to Windows 10 and then, on the last day it can be done it decides that it will force me to do this? Then it takes nearly nine hours to download and install the update and half of the apps I had on the computer are no longer compatible. Tomorrow is going to be a fun day of sitting here installing things again and trying to work out if I need to find replacements for some of them. Sorry if this seems a bit rantish, I’ve been sat with the computer for ages while it works things out and ‘s just a bit frustrating at times. Anyway, no real post today as my computer is not working that well, I’m just crossing my finger it’ll be good for Monday, if not then you know why there isn’t a post!
It also doesn’t help that the post I originally had for today, and spent a while writing and getting the photos on the computer, is for a product that is no longer available even though it was letting me add it to the basket this afternoon. I decided not to post it as it was for the Too Faced Romantic Eye palette and if you can’t even get it any more I’m not sure if I should post about it, it’s not really new. Unless you guys want to read it anyway, in case it becomes available again at some point. It’s one of the ones in my palettes collection I was going through and reviewing but it got pushed back even though I had it all planned before Christmas. Looks like I shouldn’t have put it off, lesson learned I guess!
It’s weird how, now I’ve been doing three posts a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (and others in between sometimes) it just feels wrong not posting on one of the three main days even if there is already a third post this week. Does anyone else find that? Like I couldn’t relax unless I did a post. I will work on getting spares ready in case of emergencies like today, and make sure they’re actually still available.
Sorry for any typos, I’m on my phone and I’m not the best at picking up spelling on here, I might delete this next week if it’s all fixed then.
