Having been browsing on Etsy for a while, it’s become my go to website for when I’m bored recently, I found a subscription box that looked like it was perfect for me.
I love a good detective novel, I can go through them so fast, but I have found I end up sticking to the same authors. I like the escapism, especially when they’re ones written and based in the past, I may have multiple copies of Sherlock Holmes books and can go through Agatha Christie’s in a day. I also have a love of subscription boxes, though I haven’t actually bought any as a subscription because so many of them are beauty ones and I really don’t need to add to my stash that never seems to shrink!
I guess that’s one long way to introduce the Coffee and Crime box from the Etsy store with the same name. It’s a subscription box that mixes coffee (or hot chocolate if you message) and some vintage crime novels as well as a few extras. It’s available as a one off or a subscription with a few options available.
The latest Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Boxarrived on the weekend so, after trying everything out, today’s post is a mini review, first impressions type post for each of the upcoming Autumn scents. Fortune Cookie Soap are an American company that make bath and body products and their signature products it, unsurprisingly, a fortune cookie shaped soap. They release seasonal collections four times a year and these Soap Boxes are full of sample sizes of the upcoming scents in a range of products alongside two full sized products. Calling them sample sizes seems a bit mean considering the amount you get, they’re great travel sized minis and even the body butters can do more than one use if you’re careful with them.
As well as the seasonal collections often having the theme of the season, they also have a second theme. This time the theme is the movie Mean Girls which, I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen in a while so some of the references may go over my head. I was surprised at how many I actually got but fans of the movie will probably recognise everything. I do love how they use in jokes as well as the more well known references when it comes to these themes.
As this is the Autumn (Fall if you’re American) collection it isn’t actually available yet, the release date is August 18th at 6PM CST, I think that’s around midnight here in the UK. It’s worth either staying up late if you want something or waiting a bit as they often restock things a couple of weeks later and things sell out so fast.
Last Thursday the summer Soap Box from Fortune Cookie Soaparrived so I’ve had some time to play around with most of the products to see how they work. Fortune Cookie Soap are an American company that make bath and body products and, once every few months so each season, they release a main collection and you can see inscribe to their Soap Box so they send out a box full of said please and two full sized products, one in each of the upcoming scents.
Most seasons they tend to stay pretty much within the trends for that season but they also have a second theme and this one is one I love and am excited about as it’s Pirates of the Caribbean inspired with the name A Pirate’s Life for Me. You get six sample sizes and two full sized products. The ‘samples’ though are a pretty good size and you get multiple uses out if most of them, things like bath bombs and melts are one off but most have enough for multiple uses.
The Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Box for the Spring collection arrived on Friday. Though I was away for the weekend so didn’t post on it it also means I’ve had a bit of a play around with most of it to see what I think. Fortune Cookie Soap are a company based in the USA who make bath and body prod icy stone with their signature being the Soap in the shape of a fortune cookie, as you may have guessed. They release a Soap Box full of different products as a preview for their quarterly collections. These are available internationally though postage does put the price up if you’re outside the US.
This Spring the theme is ‘Be Our Guest’ so it’s Beauty and the Beast themed as well as most of the products being more spring like scents. It isn’t available at the moment but it will be launched on February 17th at 6pm CST (midnight in the U.K.) and I definitely recommend either getting there at the time of release or waiting a bit as they sell out fast but do normally get restocked. It’s November and that means it’s the time of year when all the Christmas ranges are announced and released. It’s also time for the Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Box as the pre-release for the Christmas collection. If you haven’t heard of them Fortune Cookie Soap are an American company that sell bath and body products, with their signature product being a soap in the shape of a fortune cookie.
Their Soap Boxes are a quarterly subscription box that includes a range of products in all of the scents in the collection. They normally have a secondary theme alongside the general seasonal one and this Christmas it’s Narnia, which I love as I read those books a lot when I was growing up. This time there are eight scents all in this theme and this box has eight different products, including the full-sized fortune cookie soap and a hand sanitizer which you get in each box.
Late last week, Thursday morning I think, my Autumn Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Box arrived. I’ve had a play around with everything in there so it’s all been used and I know how well they work so I thought I’d do a review post about the products themselves as well as the scents. If you don’t know what the Fortune Cookie Soap Box is it’s a box of miniatures and sample or travel sized versions of products from the Fortune Cookie Soap company from America. You always get two full sized products in there; a Fortune Cookie Soap and a hand sanitizer, but the rest are minis and can be from any of the other products that they sell on their site. The scent are all previews of the next collection to be released in this case the Fall (or Autumn if you’re I the UK) collection.
Every quarter they release a new themed collection, often there’s a second theme alongside the season and this time it’s As You Wish which is Princess Bride themed. I realised that, although it’s on my list of movies to watch as I’ve been told it’s great, I haven’t actually watched this movie so I will probably be missing all of the references. Sorry about that. This range isn’t available at the moment but is being released on August 26th at 6pm CST (I think that’s midnight in the UK).
Also at the moment you can get the Halloween soap box as a one off, either in this style with miniatures or in one with full sized products, here. It’s a one off so even if you are signed up to the Soap Box already you need to do this as a separate order and it might be a good way of trying some of their products to see if your skin gets on with them without going for the full subscription. This does close on 19th August 12 noon (CST) so you only have a few days to do this.
Fairly recently My Geek Box announced they were doing a Doctor Who special version of My Geek Box, their monthly subscription box, for £35.99 with over £100 worth of Doctor Who specific merchandise inside. I don’t often go for these monthly subscriptions, especially these geeky based ones, as they have such a huge range of franchises in them that I’m normally only interested in about half of the stuff in there so it’s a bit of a waste. This one is all Doctor Who and it says limited to 1000 so I got one. They are still available as I type this, here, on their website but as they have a limited number I don’t know how much longer they will be there.
With is saying £100 worth of products I had no idea what they would be and I don’t even know if they’re all the same, I haven’t seen any reviews of this specific box when I look on Google, but I am pretty happy with what I got. Everything apart from one thing will definitely be used and I like that it’s got some more grown up merchandise rather than just toys, which is what I expected given the price they claim it’s worth as that would be a lot of toys.Continue reading →
