I saw the Primark Lion King range and I had to get some of it, I really wish I’d bought the chalk board and the cushion when I saw them in my local about a month ago but I haven’t seen them since. I did go to another Primark fairly near to me and found the makeup products so I had to get both the highlighting and the eyeshadow palette. The eyeshadow review will be up on Saturday and you can find it here if you want to check back to see swatches from that.
This highlighting palette has four highlighters in it in a
range of shades, there’s a pink base and a golden base that are more of a glow,
a deeper brown that’s great for darker skin tones, and a sort of peachy more
glittery highlight. The palette costs £5 and these are decent sized pans with
4.5g in each one. It’s also cruelty free, which is great, and I love the cute
packaging they’ve done for these, even if mine’s a bit damaged looking.
Maybe it’s just me, but every summer I always plan on being
a bit more adventurous with my eye makeup and trying bright colours. I also
always realise that I don’t actually have one palette that has brights in, they’re
sort of all over the place, and I just don’t have some colours.
I know that a lot of people wouldn’t do this, but I do end
up looking on eBay for makeup if I just want to try something new when it comes
to colours or looks. I found the Smashbox Cover Shot Bright Colours Palette for
£3.50, pretty much like new, and actually won it. As with all Cover Shot
palettes it’s a pocket sized palette with eight eyeshadows in it, six smaller ones
along the bottom and two larger ones at the top. I loved the Ablaze palette I
got in a set last year so wanted to see if the others in the range are as good
as there seem to be mixed reviews depending on the palette.
You know you’ve waited too long to do a post on a product when it’s not available any more. I wanted to really give these things a try, the ones I didn’t have already, so it’s sort of four mini reviews in one post as they’re all available in the permanent line.
In the No7 box that was a free gift with purchase they had a mini version of the Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Facial Sun Protection SPF 15 and the Lash Impact Waterproof Mascara as well as a full sized Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil in bronze and Protect and Perfect Lip Care. This is a great mix of products to try for summer and I think any of them would be worth checking out, especially as No7 have a 3 for 2 offer in Boots at the moment.
This is the 3AM i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette from Sleek Makeup, a palette with twelve mineral based eyeshadows in multiple finishes. There’s metallic shadows, shimmers, mattes and one that could be a duochrome. It costs £8.99 so it’s definitely at the budget end of the scale and I will always be tempted by any of their new releases as they can be so good.
The 3AM palette looked like the perfect combination of two separate colour palettes, there are six that I would say come under the warm browns and coppers and six that come under the more reddy browns and maroon type colours. This would make it the perfect palette for travel as you could have so many different looks with some mattes in there for a more natural look too.
I got the No7 Nude to Night Palette as a free gift with
purchase a while ago, it’s an all in one face palette with six eyeshadows, a bronzer,
a highlighter and a blusher. It seemed like the perfect travel palette so I
took it away on holiday with me to try out, then didn’t actually wear any
makeup. I’ve been playing around with it quite a bit since to see how well they
If you buy this full price it’s £25, which isn’t a bad price
when it comes to No7, their standard blushes come in a 3g pan and cost £9, this
one has 3.2g of the bronzer and blush and a 3.8g pan for the highlighter so
those three alone would probably cost more than this. It’s also nice and
compact and would actually work for travel without being so small that it’s
hard to use the face products with a standard brush.
Recently No7 released their HydraLuminous Moisturising Foundation and concealer, along with a range of skin care products. These are all supposed to help people with dry skin and the foundation is supposed to help to improve your skin over time, like an additional skin care step within your makeup routine. If you’re thinking of trying it I’d recommend giving it a go soon as, at the moment, it’s on an offer where everything in the range is £10 so you’d save £5 off the RRP of £15 on this foundation and more on some of the others.
I wouldn’t normally buy a foundation without testing it
first but I know that their lightest shade, Calico, is a pretty good match for
me and I have drops that can lighten or darken it if the colour match was a
total failure. The idea of a medium coverage foundation from a company that my
skin gets on with and also works for dry skin sounded too good to be true so I
had to give it a try.
It feels like it’s been a while since I last posted, it’s
probably not been all that long but I think I needed to step back and life sort
of took over. I’ll do more of a post about it soon but blogging was getting
stressful, which is not what I ever want it to be, and this break means I’m
actually looking forward to posting and have all these ideas. Anyway, onto the
I recently decided that I wasn’t really going to do many
hauls, but as I’m going away to Fuerteventura in April I had so many things I wanted
to get ready for that or that were on my list to buy after the no-buy February
and my general decluttering that I felt like I wanted to share with you guys
what I was getting. This is all from Boots and most of it is actually Soap and
Glory but I am so ready for these summer products that I got a bit excited and
may have bought almost everything in their new scent that they released in February.
It did help that almost everything that I bought was in a mix and match three
for two at the time so I got a few of these things free.
I’ve been working on decluttering for the past couple of
months, I’ve actually been pretty good and my cupboards look so much tidier. I’ve
been sorting out my makeup recently and realised how much of the stuff I was
keeping is just not me at all, or at least not any more. I’ve actually counted
up how many things are in this declutter post and there’s fifty three pieces of
makeup or accessories that are going! I didn’t realise I had that much!
I did start this off with a little review of each of them,
but when you have fifty three to get through it would be so long, so instead I’m
just going to link to any that I’ve already reviewed on here and say why I’m
getting rid of them. I have to say there are a few that I never thought I’d declutter
but they’re so old that if I did decide to reach for them I don’t think they’d
do me any good. I have a new rule; if it smells like wax crayons, get rid of
I’ve always meant to do empties posts, I just tend to find
that I go for ages without having any and then within a week everything I use
regularly is finished. I love reading or watching them when other people do
them as it shows what you actually use and like rather than a review of
something you’ve been using for a few weeks or days.
As I’ve been organising my wardrobe, I’m only part way at
the moment, I’ve ended up getting all the random stuff that got thrown into
this basket I got for empties so now it can finally be used as I wanted it to
be. I didn’t plan on it being overflowing before I did my first post though! I’ll
try to keep them shorter, maybe after every ten empties, I didn’t realise how
much was in there until I emptied it earlier! As there are so many I’ll try to
keep them short and I’ll link to any I’ve done reviews on so you can see more about
It’s Christmas Eve! I can’t believe it’s Christmas Day tomorrow, not sure why but maybe it’s not cold enough or something but I haven’t been feeling as Christmassy today as I have before. The two advent calendars are kind of duplicates of previous days, the BB Cream in the Holland and Barrett beauty calendar is one I’m happy about though. The Harry Potter one less so, though it’s a different figure there are multiples of this character already.
