It feels too early to be buying anything Christmassy really but I know that the Paperchase Christmas decorations I’ve wanted have sold out in the past so when these decorations appeared on their website I had to get them early. I’ve also been doing some organising with my nail varnishes and needed a larger box. It came in a large box, though I did manage to keep my basket fairly empty as I tend to go a bit over the top with the stationery section of Paperchase.
I may have ended up spending more than I originally planned in the Lush Boxing Day Sale. I only went into be one day but I’d originally planned on getting the 12 Days of Christmas gift box and decided against it when I saw it. I ended up regretting that decision and as my mum.and sister were going in the next day asked them to get it so here’s everything that came in that gift set.
The Twelve Days of Christmas hat box is always one of the big ones from Lush, they bring out a version every year, as it has twelve of their Christmas products in it. I think it was £35 in the half price sale and was one that there were quite a few left of so there may be some in some of the lush stores. This year it has a wide range of different product types as well as scents so could be a good introduction to Lush if it’s in your budget.
As some of these things may be still available in your local Lush I thought I’d do a bit of a mini review of each of them in case you manage to find any to pick up. They also sometimes seem to pop up in the kitchen throughout the year do if there’s something you’re interested in it may return at some point. Don’t quote me on that, I don’t know what’s coming or how Lush decides what’s going up, it’s just going by past experience.
I think I’m going to be a bit late posting any sale hauls, the few other things I’ve bought haven’t arrived yet and I just haven’t done all that much sale shopping this year! I did, however, manage to get into my local Lush a couple of days after Boxing Day and it wasn’t too manic so I had a look round and bought a couple of gift sets and some other bits I was planning on getting. The reason this is part one of two is because my mum and sister went back and I asked them to get another gift box in the sale for me which has quite a bit more in it so this post would have been very long.
As some of these things may still be available in your local Lush I thought I’d do a mini, one or two line, review for each of the things in the sets as a first impressions. A few I’ve used before so I’ll either link to a review I’ve done or it’ll be more on experience than first impression as I’ve actually used them. Anyway, onto the haul and I hope you enjoy.
Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope you’re having a good day and enjoying yourself whether you celebrate Christmas or not. As it’s the last day of the Marks and Spencer’s Beauty Advent Calendar and the official first day of Christmas it’s the last day of Blogmas. Not that my Blogmas went as I was expecting, December has definitely been more hectic than I expected it to be so I didn’t do the same posts I was expecting. Today’s gift in the advent calendar is a makeup bag. It’s not one I can find on their website but as their makeup bags are £12 in general I’m going to stick with that as the value they’ve put in this one, not sure if it would be.
The first day of Christmas from my Twelve Days of Ciate London Calendar is a liquid lipstick. I love the look of this calendar in general and I’ve wanted to try the Ciate makeup after loving their nail varnishes for years so couldn’t resist it when it was on offer. The liquid lipstick is a Liquid Velvet Liquid Lipstick in the colour Oh Honey! The full sized version is £17 normally on their website (currently on sale for £13.60) and is part of the new nudes range. This mini size is 2ml to the 6.7ml of a standard one which means it has around £4 of product in it. These minis are always enough for me in liquid lipsticks anyway and I can see this one lasting well.
It’s the last bath before Christmas for me so I wanted to use one of the Lush Christmas limited edition products to see if it was worth stashing if there’s any in the sale. The My Two Front Teeth Bubble Bar (£3.95) is one of those I wasn’t sure of in my original post when I first bought it so I wanted to see which side it fell on. It’s definitely one of the more unusual scents of the ones I picked up this Christmas and more of an old style Lush smell with odd combinations and layers of scent.
This isn’t available online at the moment, I think they’ve taken all the Christmas stock down to redistribute between stores and the online store ready for the sales, so you can’t get it but I imagine there will be some in the sale when it starts. That is if you can get in, last year I was in the waiting list for hours. It’s a fairly small bubble bar but you could get two baths out of this going by the bubbles. The scent isn’t the strongest so it may be one you’d choose to use all in one, I did for a Christmas treat as I never use a whole bubble bar in one bath.
It’s the second to last day of the Marks and Spencer’s advent calendar, though I know a lot of advent calendars end today and they always did when I was growing up. When does advent actually end? I always thought the 24th but so many include the 25th now too. Anyway, today’s gift is the Pur Illuminate and Glow Primer, the second primer in three days so I kind of wish they’d spread the two out a bit more. It’s a corrective primer that has some shimmer in it to give a glowy look for a base. The full sized tube is 30ml and £24 so this 10ml tube contains £8 of product. It has a bit of a peachy bronze look to me and definitely has shimmer in so I’m not sure how much I’ll use it as primer.
The second thing from an advent calendar, well kind of, is the Forest Walk Wax Tart from the Scented Seasons Shop Twelve Scents of Christmas set I bought and have been picking them out at random as a kind of home done advent calendar. The set was £15 for twelve wax tarts or they can be bought individually for £1.25 each where you pick your scents.
I can’t believe it’s Christmas Eve already! We have some things we do on Christmas Eve every year, they’ve become traditions as well as some of them being practical. Things like getting food bits ready or watching certain movies, I love these things that become traditions and are different for each family and don’t necessarily have anything too Christmassy about them.
Today was the first snow of this winter and we made the most of it! Our dog is nearly 14 and really shouldn’t get too excited but ended up running around like a puppy and I managed to make a snowman. I’ll be paying for it the next few days but totally worth it. We might be getting some more in the night but it’s probably just going to freeze so I’m crossing my fingers the road outside our house isn’t too bad as they never salt it and I have an appointment tomorrow I have to get to. Have you guys had any snow, either today or just this winter so far? Are you ever too old to make snowmen?
Onto the Marks and Spencer’s beauty advent calendar’s gift for today and it’s a small tube of Formula Innovate Radiance Reveal Peel which seems to be part of the Marks and Spencer’s Beauty range. It’s cruelty free and has the leaping bunny logo on it. This means that so far this year we’ve had more skin care than anything but this is a different kind of product and I’m intrigued by what it will do. It’s a 15ml tube and with the full sized one being 50ml and costing £17.50 I think it should be worth somewhere around £5. It’s definitely a fairly good sized sample so I’m looking forward to trying it and there’s quite a few uses from it.
The seventh day of advent from the Marks and Spencer’s beauty advent calendar and it’s more skin care. I have to say I think I’ve forgotten half of the things on the list when I first bought this as I really don’t remember this on there. It’s a night mask from Korres, the Wild Rose Advanced Repair Sleeping Facial. It’s a moisturiser that you apply after cleansing your face, I’m assuming it’s a night cream as the name says and it’s supposed to nourish and retexturise your skin. I’m not sure what that means but it’ll be interesting to see if it has any positive effects for me. A 40ml pot of this costs £26 so I think this mini 16ml tube would cost around £9 or £10.
Day 7 of December and we’re finally getting round to the decorating. Unfortunately it is also a day of no internet, it went down around 12 and won’t be fixed for a while so I’m doing this post on my phone, hopefully the photos are good enough quality without editing. It’s odd how much I miss the internet when it’s down. I had all these plans for what I was going to do today but they almost all relied on the internet so I feel like I haven’t done much really.
This is a bit late, it’s definitely taking me a while to recover from Christmas this year, but I wanted to post it as I like reading what other people get for Christmas. It almost feels like I should have titled this the year of Soap and Glory or something as I have quite a bit from them. Though I do often as for the big set when it’s at half price and they last me till next Christmas, I’m not sure how much Soap and Glory I’ve actually bought the past four or five years.
The time around Christmas in general is really draining, I think that probably goes for most people anyway, so energy is definitely at a premium and after everything leading up to it I don’t have anything left when it comes to the boxing day sales. At the same time I do live sales shopping, and not just for the amazing deals you can find, it’s always been a bit if a tradition to go sales shopping title he nearest city the day after boxing day. Boxing day itself is a stay at home, relax and just watch TV kind of day anyway for my family, the crowds would out me off even if I was healthy unless there was something I really wanted.
Since having M.E. I have been surprised how much I do miss the sales shopping and have found some ways to still enjoy it so thought I’d post some of these tips, even if it’s a bit late for some since the sales are probably half empty in some places (the Lush sale in the UK seemed to sell out in boxing day itself).
