Another Christmas Home Haul: A Bit of Everything

The title image for the post. It says Christmas Everything and there's a photo of all the Christmas decorations lying on the bed

I have never had a proper theme when it comes to Christmas decorations, it tends to be throw all the colours at the tree and see how it looks. This year, however, I decided to have a bit of an overhaul and give a themed look a go. It won’t be for everything, just the main tree and bits around it, but having seen all the natural wooden and white looks out there I thought I’d give it a go. Considering my decorations mainly looks like a metallic rainbow this meant a bit of a shopping spree.

This post is probably more hauls than haul, I may have got a bit carried away and bought from a few places. It’s a mix of The Range, Ikea, Disney Store and eBay.

Review: Smashbox Shooting Star Gift Set

Smashbox Shooting Star set title image. Behind the text box is a photo of the three palettes on a wooden surface

Until this time last year I hadn’t tried anything Smashbox, their Christmas gift sets are a great way to try things for yourself as the price is so good compared to their permanent range. The Covershot palettes are £24 normally, this set of three is £42, or £35.70 in the sale at the moment. In the Smashbox Shooting Star Gift Set is a limited edition eyeshadow palette called Supernova, Minimilast which is a permanent one, and a small face palette with a highlighter, blush and matte bronzer.

As with all Covershot palettes these are small, they’re a great travel sized palette or to throw in your bag, so for the price they are still expensive and it seems they can be a bit hit or miss when it comes to pigmentation, I tend to do research before getting them but as this only has one permanent product in there I risked it.

Primark Christmas Haul

Primark Christmas Haul title image. behind the text box is a phot of the products I bought against a white wall

I think it’s close enough to December to be talking about Christmas, or more specifically Christmas decorations. There’s so many styles around this year and I decided that I’m going to have a bit of a makeover of my Christmas decorating style as I haven’t bought much new for the past few years and it always feels so similar to me so there might be a couple more decoration hauls coming up as well.

The first haul is from Primark, though it’s been more like three trips where I bought other bits too but I thought I’d wait until I had enough Christmas things to be worth a post by themselves. There’s definitely more I’d be tempted to get if they have them in stock in stores I go to.

First Impressions: Limited Edition Smashbox Cosmic Party Kit

The Smashbox Cosmic Party Kit title image. Behind the text box is a photo of the gift set unopened, showing the products in a red box with dots and star doodles on it in white

It’s November so it’s OK to talk about Christmas now right? I’ve started on the Christmas shopping and all the gifts are appearing in stores. I’m not sure if this is going to be a thing that comes out every year but last Christmas I bought a Smashbox set that’s sort of a taster set with a mix of travel sizes and full sizes of some of their best selling products and a full size Cover Shot palette. This year it’s the Cosmic Party Kit and cost £30 but contains over £90 worth of products. It says limited edition and I think it’s a limited number available rather than meaning just limited to Christmas.

I love sets like this that contain full sized products so you can tell exactly what it would be worth and you basically get some of the products for free. In this one a Cover Shot palette would cost £25 so if that’s the product you’re most interested in you get the rest for £5. The Cover Shot palette this time is the Major Metals one so it’s all metallic. The other products included are full sized Full Exposure Mascara, Always On Gel Liner in Fishnet (black) and Gloss Angeles Lip Gloss in 72 & Honey alongside a travel sized tube of their Photo Finish Primer.
