My First Empties of 2019, There’s Quite a Few Here!

My First Empties of 2019 title image. Behind the text is a photo of a lot of empty bottles and jars in a rose gold basket

I’ve always meant to do empties posts, I just tend to find that I go for ages without having any and then within a week everything I use regularly is finished. I love reading or watching them when other people do them as it shows what you actually use and like rather than a review of something you’ve been using for a few weeks or days.

As I’ve been organising my wardrobe, I’m only part way at the moment, I’ve ended up getting all the random stuff that got thrown into this basket I got for empties so now it can finally be used as I wanted it to be. I didn’t plan on it being overflowing before I did my first post though! I’ll try to keep them shorter, maybe after every ten empties, I didn’t realise how much was in there until I emptied it earlier! As there are so many I’ll try to keep them short and I’ll link to any I’ve done reviews on so you can see more about them.

Left to right: Umberto Giannini Hot Styler Spray in a black and silver spray can, Dead Sea Spa Magik Mineral Shampoo in a white bottle and the Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Serum glass bottle with a pump lid.

You can’t get the Umburto Giannini Princess Purrfect Hot Styler Spray any more, I think I bought three when they discontinued them years ago and this is the last one. I have a couple of others I’ve been trying and in recent years it’s nothing all that special, it was great for my hair when it first came out though.

I’ve been planning a post on the Dead Sea Spa Magik Mineral Shampoo as it’s amazing for my scalp. If you have a flaky or itchy scalp this is one I’d definitely recommend. Would I repurchase? I already have!

The Dr Organic Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Treatment Serum is definitely a favourite, it works so well for my hair and I think this is my second one in two years so they last for ages. Would I repurchase this? I already have two I bought recently.

Four empty tube of body scrub. From Left to right Lush's Rub Rub Rub shower scrub, The Body Shop mini sugar scrubs in Peppermint Candy Cane and Berry Bon Bon and R U Ok Hun from Happy Place Cosmetics.

I seem to have used a lot of body scrubs recently. The Lush Rub Rub Rub Salt Scrub is one I’ve had for years, I think they’ve discontinued it, and kept it as I love the scent. If I could I would repurchase it, just not straight away as I have others to use first.

The Body Shop Christmas Limited Edition scents were good this year and I had the sugar scrub minis in Peppermint Candy Cane and Berry Bon Bon. I love the Body Shop sugar scrubs and these scents were great, I wish I’d bought full sized ones. Definitely ones I’d repurchase if they released them next year.

I liked the Happy Place Cosmetics R U Ok Hun? Body scrub (even though the jar says it’s the whipped body wash) as it wasn’t too scrubby and did moisturise my skin at the same time. I wouldn’t go for this scent again but I’d go for their sugar scrubs when my current stash runs out. The only thing is it goes crumbly after a while so one to use fresh.

Three empty bottles of shower gel. Left to right; Lush's Bubbly, a mini sized bottle of Soap and Glory Best Washes, and a mini bottle of The Body Shop Peppermint Candy Cane

I can’t remember if Lush even did the Bubbly Shower Gel this year, this is from 2017. I love the scent and it was very nice, I love their multi use products as this was a great bubble bath too. If they do it again this year I’ll buy more but I have a 100ml bottle left at the moment.

I love that Soap and Glory are starting to do limited edition scents, though it means I want to try them all. This was the Best Washes Body Wash from Christmas and I love it. I’ve got a larger bottle already.

The Body Shop Peppermint Candy Cane Shower Gel mini is another I’d love to buy a full sized one of. It’s very fresh and a true peppermint scent.

Three empty pots and a spray bottle. In the pots were Lush's Buck's Fizz Body Conditioner and two mini versions of the Body Shop Body Butter in Peppermint Candy Cane and Berry Bon Bon. The spray bottle had Soap and Glory Original Pink Body Spray in it.

The Lush Buck’s Fizz Body Conditioner has the same scent as Bubbly and is another from 2017. I liked it, it’s not my favourite thing to have a product like this to use in the shower and wash off as I tend to feel greasy afterwards but this was nice enough. I probably wouldn’t repurchase but would use it if I got it in a gift set.

More of the Body Shop Christmas minis, these Body Butters in Peppermint Candy Cane and Berry Bon Bon were great too. I love their body butters but tend to go for Soap and Glory because of the price. I’d definitely repurchase the peppermint one, it’s great in the morning or after a shower to wake you up.

I’m not a huge fan of body sprays, even when they’re the Soap and Glory Original Pink scent. It’s not something I’d buy myself but I have these in a range of scents still from gift sets so I doubt I’d ever have to!

Left to right: Soap and Glory Face Soap and Claority, Nubo The Essence and a travel size of the Cell Dynamic Stimulating Moisturiser, and a metal tin from Happy Place Cosmetics that had the Bananas, No Pyjamas face scrub in it.

I have to say that the Soap and Glory Face Soap and Clarity face was did grow on me, I wasn’t a huge fan to start with and it didn’t seem to do much but I found that the past year or so it really helped to keep my skin more consistent. It’s not going to clear up acne or sort dry skin but it kept my skin even while using other products to tackle certain problems. I’d definitely repurchase this.

Unfortunately Nubo is one of those super expensive brands that’s out of my budget unless I find it in TK Maxx. The Cell Dynamic The Essence was nice to use with other moisturisers as a little went a long way and it lasted ages so was probably better value for money than the Cell Dynamic Stimulating Moisturiser but I just love that stuff so much. I’m planning on repurchasing the moisturiser, not sure I’d bother with the Essence but maybe if that’s all I could find.

The Happy Place Cosmetics Bananas No Pyjamas face scrub was one of those products that smells good enough to eat. It’s a nice consistency, though it got crumbly as it got older, and not overly scrubby but still a bit harsh for my skin at times. It did help to moisturise my skin though when it was dry. Not one I’d repurchase as there are others I’d prefer but still a nice product, especially if you have dry skin.

a jar of Beautiful Me Prime and Create Mixing Medium with the foundation mixed in, the Leighton Denny Nail Repair Cream, Tony Moly Egg pore Primer and a tube of Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Gold Mascara

The little pot is actually the Beautiful Me Prime and Create Mixing Medium, though it has the foundation mixed in with it. I love using this with their powder foundation for a light coverage, it just works for me. Already repurchased it and had it waiting for when this one ran out.

I have a couple of the Leighton Denny Renovate Nail Repair Cream and I think this one came from the 2015 M&S advent calendar so it’s old. It’s nice enough but I don’t find it does much more than a hand cream. I have another so I’ll give it another go, maybe it was because it was open so long as I loved it when I first got it, but I don’t think it’s one I’d repurchase.

The Tony Moly Egg Pore Primer seemed to last so long. It was an odd consistency to work with and smelled of lemon meringue to me. Not one I’ll be repurchasing but I’m glad I tried it. I prefer thinner primers but this probably has the cutest packaging for a primer that I’ve ever used.

The final empty is a Soap and Glory Thick and Fast High-Definition Collagen-Coat Mascara in black. I’ve had a few of these but don’t think I’ve ever reviewed them. I actually quite like it, which is good considering it comes in so many sets and I think I have two more waiting to be used at some point!

All of the empty bottles and pots in the rose gold basket

I can’t believe how many products I finished in the six weeks of 2019 so far! It does feel like I go ages without finishing anything and then they all go at once. Though I am definitely guilty of keeping a little bit left of an old favourite and not wanting to finish it. I’m planning on getting better at that this year, it’s how I finally finished the Bubbly and Rub Rub Rub. I’m sure I’m not the only one who does that, are there any products you have a tiny bit left of that’s not available any more and you just don’t want to finish it?

I hope you enjoyed the post. If you want to see more you can find me on social media:
