Blogmas 2018: Day 5!

An image of an artificial Christmas tree with gold and maroon baubles on and some Harry Potter Decorations.Today was not the best day, I did manage to get things done but only about half of the things on my list of ‘to do’s and that may have been overdoing it as I ended up having to lie down with a cold towel on my head. I’m really hoping I’m not going to be ill, perfect timing in the plead up to Christmas. At least I’ve got pretty much all of my Christmas shopping done and may be starting to wrap presents tomorrow, I don’t have the room for the things in my wardrobe and then I don’t have to hide them any more.

I have to say that I am very excited about both of the gifts in the advent calendars today. The Funko Pocket Pop is one I’ve had my eye on in the full size but it seemed to be sold out when I went to get it. The Holland and Barrett beauty calendar had a face mask in and I do love a good face mask, plus my skin could really do with some TLC as it’s been playing up recently. The tea was surprisingly good too, it wasn’t one I was looking forward to but I did enjoy it.

I’m not sure I can even answer this question, it’s one of those that I’m sure other people would answer differently if they got the same things. Anyway, the question today from peanutbutterJenny.com is:

What is the best gift you have ever received?

I really don’t know, I feel like I could give so many different answers to this. One of the best gifts I received was my first computer. It was a Toshiba laptop and a lot of things went wrong with it but it was the first one that was really mine and not a family one or a second hand one from dad’s work. It had the original sims on it and the first computer I ever used photoshop on (I think anyway).

One that was a great gift because it was from a secret Santa and I love when you get someone in those things who really takes the time to look at answers to a questionnaire or to find out what you like. It was a rubber duck Doctor Who, which may seem odd but I collect rubber ducks and I love Doctor Who so it was a perfect gift.

I’m going to say both of those because they were amazing gifts but for different reasons, I could say more because there have been so many that have meant something but for the one that had the biggest impact on my life is probably the laptop really.

A Christmas mug with a polar bear on it, inside is green tea and the teabag string is hanging over the edgeToday’s tea was Green Tea and Lemongrass, which is one of the first times I’ve tried green tea hot. I used to drink matcha but haven’t for a while and was expecting this one to taste like a standard green tea with maybe a hint of lemongrass, which isn’t my favourite flavour. The green tea side of this was quite subtle, it was definitely there but the lemony flavour of the lemongrass was stronger. I think the fact it had green tea with it covered the slightly grassy flavour I don’t like with lemongrass and just made it give that lemony hint. This one was surprisingly nice to me and it’s on the maybe buy again list. I think it’d be great in the summer as it’s so light and refreshing.

The front of the Yes to Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Face Mask sachetThe back of the sachet with the ingredients listed on itIf you follow my blog you may know that I have a love for face masks so I was very happy to get the Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal face mask today, these sachets are £2.99 each. There are two of these in the calendar and I’ll be using this after the family meet up as my skin has been playing up a bit recently, I think it’s since the weather can’t decide if it’s cold or warm, so it could do with a bit of a detox.

I’ve tried a few things from the company but not this mask so I’m looking forward to it. It seems like it’s just a paste style mask that you apply, leave on for a while and then wash off. I’m not sure if it dries up like a clay mask or not but I have a feeling it’ll be messy! I like these single use sachets, though I often get two uses from it, as the masks don’t have a chance to dry up and they’re so easy for travel.

The Nearly Headless Nick Pocket Pop in the front with Harry and Ron behindI am so happy about this Pocket Pop in the Funko Pop Harry Potter advent calendar, I’ve been considering buying Nearly Headless Nick as a full sized one as I love the way it looks. The costume, the hair and the colour they chose for the ghosts looks good. It’s not clear but it’s almost the milky white colour that they decided on in the movies. Nearly Headless Nick is one of those characters that I wish was included more in the movies, actually I think most of the ghosts could have had more air time, and I think a ghost sort of fits with the blank eyes that all Pops have.
