I have never used a building gel before but I’ve been interested in them for a while as I have two nails that always break so being able to build these up rather than cutting the rest short is something I’ve wanted to try. Maybe it’s just me but they always seemed a bit intimidating with dipping a brush into a pot and not knowing which brands to try, but when I ordered some things from Candy Coat a while ago I saw they have a builder gel in a bottle like a normal gel nail varnish and got one.
The Candy Coat builder gel range is called Hard Candy, I love the theme they have, and comes in a 8ml bottle with a brush like their standard gel nail varnishes. They have a range of colours and I picked B005 because it looked like a nice natural nail colour and could be a good base for all my colours or work on its own for a more natural look. The Hard Candy builder gels cost £15 each which is a pretty standard price for nor lack gel nail varnishes so it seems a good price to me for this.

With the cooler weather and a bit of a busier week last week I’ve been so achy and tired and there’s nothing better for that than a bath. I thought I’d try the Lush Holey Night Bath Bomb from the Christmas collection as it’s new and I wanted something calm and relaxing this evening, plus I do love that name. This is one of those that doesn’t really have all that much scent when it’s dry so I was interested to see how it smelled when it hit the water.
I haven’t really read reviews of the new products and I didn’t expect the colours that came out of the bath bomb. I normally have multiple baths from one bath bomb but I felt like a treat so used it whole and I’m kind of glad I did. This is one that could do two or three baths and if you sprinkle the dust around you could get some amazing patterns but it was nice to have that surprise of the colours swirling round.

I do have a bit of a weakness for Halloween themed things and when I made an order from the Makeup Revolution website I had to get some of their Halloween limited edition range. They have multiple liquid highlighters in skull shaped glass bottles, two eyeshadow palettes, a powder highlight and five lipsticks. There are other things like six makeup and two eyeshadow palettes from the sister brand Obsession. Also, at the moment it’s three for two on all things Halloween on the site.
I was planning on doing this post earlier but wanted to give them a proper try and the liquid highlighters aren’t in stock any more online, though it may be back. Also the other colours seem to have been taken off the website so I’m guessing they won’t be available online, which is a pity as I was considering getting a couple of others even if it was just for display, because they just look so cool.

This is something a bit different for my blog, I haven’t really done much on my pets and definitely not on products, but I recently got a Pets at Home Christmas Pet Parcel for Hamsters and it’s one of those where you get a surprise. It’s £10 and has £14.99 worth of products in it (I checked).
As these are all exactly the same during the Christmas release I’m not going to put spoilers in this first bit in case you want to get one and want a surprise yourself. It does contain a mix of chews, treats and bedding and they are all definitely Christmas themed. If you want to see exactly what’s in it then keep reading.

After the Lush haul post on Wednesday I couldn’t wait to try something Halloween, it is the perfect season for baths after all. So I gave the Eyeball Bath Bomb (£4.95) a go and I think I may have to stock up on a couple of these before they disappear even though I promised myself October was a no buy month.
This is definitely suitably spooky looking for a Halloween product, especially when it’s floating around staring up at you in the tub, and I was interested to see how this one smelled when it hit the water. In my last post I sad it smelled like a combination of citrus, snow fairy and dream cream but I have a feeling that may have been because of what else was in the box with it as I didn’t get that at all in the water.

I tend not to buy much Lush any more, ten years ago everything I had was by them, but I always get dragged back in at Halloween and Christmas. This year I’ve not gone over the top, for me anyway, but I do like to try new products that sound nice to me to know if I’m going to try and get them in the sale. I got three of the Halloween products and quiet a few of the new Christmas products so I thought I’d put them all in one post.
This is pretty much a first impressions post, though I have used a couple of them before if they aren’t new this year I can’t say that they’re definitely the same as in past years even if they smell like it.

I did originally plan to do an update every three months but my last one was in March so you can see how well that went! I can’t believe how quickly 2018 has gone, so much seems to have happened but in so little time. Having got a notification saying I’ve just had my 4 year anniversary I thought I’d look back at the goals I set way back in January and see how I’m doing.
I tend to see goals as something to aim for, but still keep them flexible. I’ve found that if I’m too rigid with these things it’s easy to get discouraged and give up. Things change, life gets in the way, making realistic goals helps me to stick to them and I love that feeling when you achieve something. It’s like that feeling of crossing off things on a list. I think I just like lists in general.

I haven’t used Candy Coat gels much as I only bought these earlier this year and it’s the second colour I’ve tried but I love this mustard. 460 is the perfect colour for this autumn with this yellow being everywhere at the moment. It’s not a colour I would have thought of for my nails but since I got it in the surprise kit I do love it on them. It’s definitely different and would make a great base colour for nail art too.
It’s a cream finish nail varnish and does have a high gloss and smooth finish when you use it with their own base and top coat. It may not be a specifically autumnal colour, I think it’s in their permanent range, it’s definitely one that suits the autumn season, especially with this year’s trends.

It feels too early to be buying anything Christmassy really but I know that the Paperchase Christmas decorations I’ve wanted have sold out in the past so when these decorations appeared on their website I had to get them early. I’ve also been doing some organising with my nail varnishes and needed a larger box. It came in a large box, though I did manage to keep my basket fairly empty as I tend to go a bit over the top with the stationery section of Paperchase.

My under eye concealer has been getting low and I wanted to try something new. After seeing good reviews of some of the Makeup Revolution concealers I got one of them and this Obsession Concealing Wand in Light was on their website too. There’s a fair amount of product in this with 4.5ml and it costs £6 but I can see it lasting a long time as you don’t need much for this to give decent coverage.
It’s a wand with a sponge tip and a twist up end that pushes the product through so no need for any extra brushes. It’s available in various colour correcting and concealer colours and this light concealer is for light neutral skin tones. It’s also both cruelty free and suitable for vegans.
