This is one of those posts I meant to do a while ago but wasn’t sure about it as the games are being done in the style of an advent cakendar so you don’t know what you’ll get in the days to come. Also I know a lot of my followers probably don’t follow me for games but even if you don’t this might be something you could buy as a gift for someone who does (again, I know late for Christmas sorry).
You may or may not have heard if the Yogscast, they’re a group of gamers who make YouTube videos on a range if games though they started out with WoW and became well known because of Minecraft. They’ve grown and for the past four or five years have done livestreams around Christmas for various charities. The past year or two Humble Bundle have joined up with them so as well as giving for a good cause, or causes, you get a bunch of games too. This year there are six main charities: Mental Health, Special Effect, ILGA (International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association), Cancer Research, WDC (Whales and Dolphin Conservation) and Games Aid. However this year there’s also a feature where you can search for your own charities or ones in your area and then move sliders at the bottom to decide which gets how much.
So far this year the running total is $2.4 million (a bit more but it changes as I type so I’m rounding) and sales of various things and subscriptions get added so the actual total will go up after December.
If you want to read more on how to get the games and what games are actually in it keep reading or check out the website at the Humble Bundle Jingle Jam website. You do have to be quick, I think it disappears at the end if the year so hopefully you’re reading this before 2017!
The time around Christmas in general is really draining, I think that probably goes for most people anyway, so energy is definitely at a premium and after everything leading up to it I don’t have anything left when it comes to the boxing day sales. At the same time I do live sales shopping, and not just for the amazing deals you can find, it’s always been a bit if a tradition to go sales shopping title he nearest city the day after boxing day. Boxing day itself is a stay at home, relax and just watch TV kind of day anyway for my family, the crowds would out me off even if I was healthy unless there was something I really wanted.
Since having M.E. I have been surprised how much I do miss the sales shopping and have found some ways to still enjoy it so thought I’d post some of these tips, even if it’s a bit late for some since the sales are probably half empty in some places (the Lush sale in the UK seemed to sell out in boxing day itself). It’s Chriiiiiistmaaaaas! I always feel like that should be said in the style of Noddy Holder in the Slade song, it just feels wrong saying it’s Christmas any other way. I hope you’re all having a good day, it’s not too stressful and that you’re able to relax and have fun.
You don’t normally get advent presents on Christmas Day but I guess that Marks and Spencer decided to be different so this is the present for day 25. It’s a fair sized perfume, though it always feels a bit risky including a perfume in anything like this as it’s so personal and I find a lot of them go a bit odd on my skin. This perfume is from a company called Shay and Blue, a fairly new company having started in 2012, and it’s a 10ml bottle of Atropia Belladonna. Continue reading “Advent 2016: Christmas Day!”→
It’s Christmas Eve! It doesn’t actually feel like it to me, Christmas sort of snuck up in me, and I’m still doing last minute wrapping. Today is mainly full of all the fun jobs preparing for Christmas and the dinner tomorrow and I expect I’ll feel more Christmassy later but it doesn’t feel like it now. Think we’ll be watching Santa Claus: The Movie tonight, it’s a bit of a tradition. Do you guys have movies you watch in Christmas Eve or other family traditions?
With it being Christmas Eve that means the last day in most of my advent calendars, the Marks and Spencer one has an extra day for Christmas so there will be one last, shorter, post tomorrow but this is the end of another year of advent and I’ve been very happy with pretty much everything I’ve got. Today I have a few full sized products, the Marks and Spencer advent calendar has a Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm in Peppermint which I is always a good product to get in the colder weather. The Ciate Mini Mani Month today has a full sized bottle, it’s an exclusive glitter called Meet Me at Midnight, and the bottle itself is so pretty too. The Yankee Candle advent calendar has a votive candle this time and it’s in the scent Christmas Eve, very appropriate, and the Lindt chocolate is a smaller version of the chocolate Santas they do and I had to confluence photos of it out of the wrapping because it’s just so detailed.
As I know a lot of you probably won’t be reading tomorrow, if anyone’s still following this advent, I thought I’d just say Merry Christmas! And have a great weekend whether you celebrate Christmas or not!
The Marks and Spencer advent calendar has a high end skin care product, the kind it’s fun to try but would be outside my budget for a daily use product in the Studio 10 Miracle Effect Priming Serum. The Yankee Candle is the very Christmassy scented Bundle Up and the Ciate Mini Mani Month had a mini bottle of Pliés Please Me, the Gelology version of a colour that’s a light blue or grey shimmer colour with a hint of a pink duochrome that gives it a light version of a petrol look nail varnish to me. Title: Escape to Christmas Past: A Colouring-book Adventure
Author: Good Wives and Warriors
Year written: 2015
Publisher and year: Puffin Books, 2015
ISBN Number: 978-0-141-36676-0
Earlier this year I did a review of the Shakespeare’s World colouring book from this series, the Puffin Classics colouring books that are based on classic books or authors. This
Escape to Christmas Past uses themes and phrases from A Christmas Carol, a classic Christmas story, so it has a seasonal theme and seemed a good one for this time of year. This was actually the first of this series I saw and I loved the look of it.
As this is an adult colouring book the pictures are mainly made of smaller patterns and pictures within the scene so they’re small areas to colour and it’s pretty relaxing. As this one is so detailed I would say it’s more of a fine liner colouring book as the pencils I have got too blunt to fill in the finer details very quickly so you’d have to sharpen them very often. This series of colouring books in general is a lot smaller than the majority of adult colouring books so it’s a great one for travel if you like to colour on journeys or take it away with you, it’s small enough to fit into most larger handbags I think.
Today’s advent calendar presents are really nice, I think I might have my New Year’s Eve nail varnish base now as I have plans for nail art and needed a good navy for a night sky and the Ciate Raincheck is pretty much perfect for this. The Marks and Spencer beauty advent calendar had a great nail gift in it too with the Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File. I’ve considered getting these in the past but now I get to try one without having to spend the extra money and this is a great travel size though I’m not sure how suitable a crystal nail file would be for keeping in a bag without any protection. The Yankee Candle today is Winter Glow, I’m torn between loving this and not liking it, it seems to depend on the day and if I get the hint of pine air freshener from it. Today is a loving it day.
Finally finished all the mad dash Christmas shopping and actually have done some early birthday present shopping for the beginning of next year so I’m feeling organised for once. All that’s left is wrapping presents and the fun things you do on Christmas Eve and the day before like putting all the snacks out, and maybe sneaking some, and decorating the fake tree with the things that are slightly too broken or old for the nice tree. I had all these plans for Christmas related posts and then life got in the way so it’s been just the advent calendar, I may have to do some of my more Christmassy reviews in the week between Christmas and New Year, that still counts right? Anyway, I saw this over on A Daily Dose of Holly and thought it looked fun, I haven’t done a tag in a while. I’ve seen a couple of others floating around so I might do another, is two tags in four days too many? I might do it anyway.
Hope you’re all having a fun time, whether you celebrate Christmas or not, and are managing to relax and enjoy it. I do love this time of year though it’s been a bit hectic this year and I finally got the hang of writing posts in advance and scheduling them, even if there was a slight hiccup where it accidentally posted the same thing three times simultaneously (still not sure how that happened!) On with the questions! And I know I’m meant to tag people but I never know who to tag so I tag anyone who wants to do this, and if you do please leave a link below, I love reading about other people’s Christmasses. Four sleeps till Christmas and I’m not finished with present buying, this is definitely cutting it fine and the advent calendars are looking empty. I have to say that I am loving the snowballs in the Lindt advent calendar. They’re one of the Lindt products I haven’t tried before this and I love the mix of white and milk chocolate and how it’s all melty. They’ll probably be on my list of chocolates to get in the future at Christmas.
The other advent calendars today gave me a bright pink nail varnish in the Ciate Mini Mani Month and it’s called Cupcake Queen which is probably one of the most appropriate names from the calendar, to me anyway. The Marks and Spencer beauty advent calendar has a Pür Correcting Primer for normal skin which will be interesting to try and it’s a great travel size if I like it. The Yankee Candle is another Spiced Orange, one of the scents that has grown on me after the initial disappointment of it not being as orange as I expected the scent to be.
