ME, Myself and I: Photography

I think a lot of my recent ME related posts seem to have been different hobbies and things like that and I was planning on doing just a big generalise hobby post but these individual ones end up being long enough for posts themselves so I thought it’s best to have a few shorter ones rather than one big one with a wall of text as I know they can be energy draining and harder to read.

I think I’ve always like photography and, even when I was younger, I’ve normally taken photos of places and things rather than people so my holiday snaps end up being the landscapes and buildings. I never really thought of it as a hobby though until I got ill as it became one of those things that I can do even when I’m really tired. It also doesn’t need a fancy camera or equipment, most people have a camera or, recently, a phone with a camera in it and you can take a photo of almost anything.

Review: Funko Pop Severus Snape Vinyl Figure

snape1

I have been wanting the Harry Potter Funko Pops since I heard they were releasing them and, nearly a year later, I have finally got one, or more specifically two but I’m only reviewing the one today. It’s going to be a pretty short review but I’ve included photos of some of the details so you can see exactly what the figure is like if you’re thinking about getting it.

The price for these seems to range quite a bit but I bought these when they were on Amazon.co.uk for around £9.20, they seem to go out of stock in suppliers on there pretty quickly but each time they were replaced by another that is dispatched by Amazon themselves so I stuck with them, even though some of the prices may have been less elsewhere I chose free postage so it kept the price lower in the end. I have seen it stocked in quite a few places online, I know they were on Forbidden Planet and there are some places that stock only Funk Pop figures so it might be worth looking around if you want one to see the best deal.

Review: Dr Organic Snail Gel

snailgel2

In the Boxing Day sale I bought the Snail Gel set in the buy one get one for 1p offer and it had the original Snail Gel, Snail Gel Hand and Nail Elixir and the Snail Gel Facial serum in it. Today I am just reviewing the Snail Gel, I will review the others in other posts. I did start to do them all in one post but then realised that this product alone had enough words for a post and it was getting too long with the others in as well. The bit about how it worked on my face is sort of including the Facial Serum as I haven’t used this on its own, I will do a separate review of that another day but I thought it best to include how it worked for me as I think the two do work well together.

The products in the set are all full sized and are available individually at the moment on the Holland and Barrett website. They claim to sell exclusively through Holland and Barrett and I’ve never seen Dr Organic anywhere else, they may be available on other sites if you’re outside the UK but in the UK there’s also Holland and Barrett stores and I think these products are in some of them, it all depends on the size of the store and what they stock. The Original Snail Gel is a 50ml jar and costs £20.99 on the website here. I like how it’s cruelty free and the company is against animal testing, which surprised me for a snail gel product, though I didn’t actually know how they got the gel itself before.

Recent Purchases: A Very Potter Amazon Order

amazon1

It feels like I’m doing more of these recent purchases posts recently but next week I should be back to normal posting schedule, I seem to finally be getting over this cold thing. I did plan another post for tonight but then this arrived in the post and I was too excited to look at them so had to post this tonight. Almost everything in this order has been going in and out of my basket on Amazon over the past few months and all of them happened to be cheaper at the same time so I bought them. I hadn’t actually heard of the Illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone until a couple of weeks ago but I saw some photos on Instagram of an illustrated Harry Potter in amongst other Potter goodies so I had to look it up. I got everything in this post from Amazon.co.uk but they’re available in a lot of other places, I haven’t seen the Illustrated Harry Potter anywhere else but I haven’t really looked in book shops, I saw the price on here and just got it.

Recent Purchases: Joe Browns

joebrowns1

I recently made an order on the Joe Browns website and I would have done this post sooner but one of the items was faulty so I had to get a replacement. The good news is the returns were quick and easy and, even though it was only a small fault, they didn’t question it and I had the replacement back here within a week despite using My Hermes which often takes that long one way.

I don’t know if you guys find this but there are a few stores that I know if I order them online they are almost guaranteed to fit me well, the shape just suits my body and I know the sizes because of how many things I’ve bought in the past. Joe Brown’s is one of those companies for me. I did end up getting more than I originally intended but some of these things have been on my want list, or something like them, for the past two years so, although it seems like a lot to spend in one go, I am actually pretty much set for clothes this summer. I need a few new vest tops and some T-shirts with print or pattern on them but I’ll just go to Primark for the few things I need.

De-Cluttering My Makeup

decluttering1

I’m pretty good when it comes to not buying too much makeup or body products, I might have quite a lot of loose pigments from Shiro Cosmetics and eyeshadows palettes but I’m going through my makeup collection every so often to make sure it doesn’t build up. I always make sure that all of my makeup will fit inside one drawer and all of my perfume and nail varnishes fit inside another. I know I have more than I need but I like collecting the makeup and I don’t go over the top with most things.

This week as I haven’t been feeling good I decided to get the couple of tray things I keep my makeup in and sort through them, does anyone else find that clearing things out and sorting through things makes you feel more refreshed? Other than a few things, which I will say as I go along, I am not actually throwing these things out, they’re going to be offered to people and some of them possibly put on eBay in a while when I’ve got some more things from my room when I sort it better.

I have recently ended up watching a lot of decluttering videos on YouTube as well so I think that inspired me a bit. Like with a lot of those YouTubers I watch most of these things I am getting rid of because I have dupes that I prefer or that I have simply not used them in so long or I like them but they aren’t me. I’ll stop giving an explanation and get on with it.

ME, Myself and I: ‘Just’ a Cold

This is sort of an odd thing to post about and it may overlap with past posts but it’s something that I only really realised the other day. At the moment I have a cold, at least I’m pretty sure it’s a common cold as it’s all the normal cold symptoms but on top of ME it’s not fun and just lasting so long. It was the other day when mum asked about how I felt, like whether I needed to see a doctor or anything and I said about the cold symptoms but then there’s the aching joints, weak knees and general extra layers of brain fog and things that are ME related things. It’s only then that I really realised that it’s hard for people without a chronic illness with these kinds of symptoms (I’m sure there are a lot of them I don’t know about) to understand when they have exactly the same illness like a cold or infection or virus but they get better so much quicker or can actually do the normal things they do every day without it affecting them much but it knocks us back and we end up in bed for days, or possibly weeks.

February Favourites: Makeup and Music

feb20161

Quite a few of my favourites this month are things I’ve used before but have started to use more again because of the change in my skin. I was taken off my medication and changed to a topical solution so it’s taking a while to settle down, if it does, and there’s a few products that give more coverage then I’ve used in the past. I am on the lookout for a good moisturiser with SPF my skin gets on with so of anyone has any suggestions, preferably SPF 20 or higher I’m going to be trying some in the near future.

I’ll put the few TV shows I’ve been loving as well, I seem to do this every month. I have seen the new X Files and I know its not far in but I do really like it, will be interesting to see where it goes. I watched quite a few if the old ones over the past ten years when they were on in the middle if the day and I didn’t have anything to do and I really liked then, I’m going to watch some of them again from the beginning I think. NCIS is always a favourite for me and I watch it with my parents, this season is still good though there have been some weaker episodes. It’s always a bit odd watching these so much later than in the USA, the Halloween episode was only a couple of weeks ago. We started watching this late as we recorded it on Sky+ which is why it’s in February rather than earlier. Also loved Vera and Midsomer Murders, a couple of good UK detective shows though Midsomer Murders must be running out of people to kill in those small villages!
